What is the latest on the Abu Graib photos?

I'm sorry if I'm tilling old ground, but isn't today the deadline for the Pentagon to release the Abu Graib photos to the ACLU?

Will the ACLU release them to the public today?

I'm dreading the release of these photos. I'm sure they reveal despicable atrocities. However, these things did happen and our government/military committed these acts. Shining a light on evil is the only way to eradicate it.

Then again, this will surely stir up a hornet's nest in the Middle East.

It's easy to be torn about this issue.

Has anyone heard anything about when these photos?

Does anyone think that the ACLU will decide to not make them public?

I haven't heard anything about these "new" photos at all today and am beginning to doubt they'll ever see the light of day. Although, I share your ambivalence about them.

the ACLU as they are supposed to be, it will be at the end of the business day. That will avoid this news cycle and they'll then be in the Friday night news dump because it will take time for the ACLU to put them online.

5. Interesting...but if the ACLU has a say...

...they probably won't do a late-Friday afternoon dump.

They'll receive them, look at them and maybe take some time to decide what to do next.

Can you imagine the shock and horror they will feel?

What a tremendous responsibility--to have these photos that the public has yet to see.

The Pentagon may decide to hold out until the last minute today--but the ACLU will make ALL decisions relating to their dissemination--and I doubt they would release them late Friday. They understand the implications of that. That's my guess anyway...

I remember hearing that the unreleased photos were significantly worse than the photos that were released. I imagine the ACLU will need a few days to digest what they have been given.
