Is the CAFTA vote today?
I saw the Senate voted to authorize CAFTA to come up yesterday (or something, sometimes Senate votes make no sense.)

Anyone know if a vote on this is scheduled for anyt time soon?

1. It leaves the committee and goes to the full Senate next week...
although they are out on vacation next week, so
I don't know when this will come up.

What's important is to contact your Senators now.

2. Looks like they're voting today if they can get it on the floor
It really doesn't matter that much; they don't have the votes in the house. And DeLay is too damaged to do his usual arm-twisting. And they have to face reelection next year. Congressmen from the south are really in a tough spot. SC and GA have both lost tons of textile jobs to Central America, and they don't want to lose more.

It's a really stupid bill, anyway. There are a few industries that think they'll make a bundle off it (pork, for one) but on the whole, it's pretty meaningless economically. As to workers rights, that's another story.
