Surely he wouldn't drink alcahol. You liberals should be ashamed of yourselves. Slandering a hero like Delay will hurt our nations morale. Why do you hate America? :sarcasm:

34. OMG, speaking of which, did you hear Malloy last night? He was
playing clips of Chimp's latest press conference (whatever it
was) and Chimp's inability to form an articulate sentence, let
alone pronounce people's names right, not to mention his
stammering, coupled with Malloy's comments, was absolutely
hilarious.

Chimp said, "My dream is that there be a Palestinian state living side by side in peace with Iraq..."

And Malloy exclaimed, "What, he's gonna move Jordan???"

39. He is not drunk
It is the fecal material backing up in to his esophagus from all the neocon B.S. that he has built up over the many years, Bush has the same problem accumulated over a life time. If you live a life of lies then life becomes a maze, you have to ask your self over and over again is this the truth or is that the truth, you forget. Hmmm, then again maybe he is also drunk.

70. Not a day goes by that I don't yell and swear at the television.
My husband hears me preparing dinner in the kitchen while watching CSPAN. It goes something like this: chop, chop, chop - "You stupid MF" - chop, chop, chop - "What a freakin' moron," etc., etc. Sometimes we have to recite that "serenity now" Seinfeld line to get our blood pressures back to a normal level.

104. Bush simply repeats things.
If you watch, say, someone like Barack Obama take questions from an audience, he can respond to the individual issues and develop a theme, think on his feet.

Bush's MO is to use simple declarative sentences -- e.g., "The prime minister is a courageous man," "These are cold-blooded killers," and the like -- and repeat them frequently. You'll notice he can't construct a logical argument or touch on things that aren't in his talking points. He's basically a demagogue, and not particularly intelligent at that, but demagoguery works on a good many people, and the press is, for the most part, enabling him.

I've worked as an drug and alcohol abuse counselor for years. No that doesn't make me an expert, but I'd agree: He was stumbling over his words and his eyes had this glaze that seemed to transmit: "I'm a feelin' no pain!"

If I could smell his breath I could say "He was wasted" with confidence. But alas. :dilemma:

The first time I saw that video played on Countdown, I just was pissed to hear the words of Karl Rove being spewed out by that scum bag Delay and having him firmly declare that these words were accurate.

My husband and I lost 5 friends in the WTC attacks....this statement from Rove (now being spewed out be Delay) made me furious! But when I just watched the video again, I listened carefully and sure enough, he's slurring words.....

The guy was drunk....

My opinion. True, "Savagery" may not be the easiest word to say, but it gets 1000 times harder when you are slurring your speach and drunk. He hacks the hell out of that word twice, and after he gets through the second time, he looks like he just came back from a war that a drunk has won against a big nasty word!

clue that the MAJORITY of us are terribly unhappy with what's
been going on in this country. Though I wouldn't blame them

126. You're absolutely right! :yourock:
Hey, you're good! Picking up on the spelling, I mean. Yep, this gal is a Canuck.

I'm pleased to report that I don't personally know of any Canuck who is stupid enough to lump all Americans into one category. But, I'm not that smug to believe we don't harbour our fair share who are dumb enough to make broad generalizations.

Having lived in the States for many years I had the good fortune to meet some pretty neat people--smart, educated, intelligent, thoughtful, non-bigoted, kind, open, and trusting--the salt of the earth if you will. But, I also met a few who I could have cheerfully throttled--for their politics of actually believing that the U.S., its government, its institutions, its everything were the be-all and end-all of any nation in the world. I was simply appalled by their ignorance. It's when the numbers of those types increase that a country gets itself into severe trouble. I'm looking forward to the time when I can post a new subject on this forum so I can expand on this topic which is so dear to my heart. I would enjoy and value being critiqued by those here on DU who for my money seem to be very politically savvy. In the meantime, I remain just a newbie with no privileges.

Hope we meet up again.

31. no question - I smell the alcohol from here...
I had already begun to think he was an alkie. My dad was, plus some other relatives. He just has the look - the reddish nose, the skin tone, the puffy fingers and the eyes, sometimes clear, sometimes glazed and bloodshot. It's interesting to see the whole thing, because there's no question after seeing it. I saw about 3 seconds of this clip last night on Olbermann and my first thought was "he's drunk". I would feel sorry for him if he was a real human being instead of an asshole with teeth.

There has to be a joke here that incorporates his name but I haven't thought of it yet. And would it be hitting below the belt? It might be for us, it wouldn't be for them, and that's how we got in this mess in the first place - by playing fair.

DeLay Detox?

a born-again drunk. So obvious. And why the HELL is that not news?

I read somewhere that there's footage of him stumbling and lurching from Air Force One to Marine One, and that it's a well-known secret that he's a drunk. Again - why the HELL is that not news?

32. Well, I'm no expert on telling when other people are drunk
But in the clip DeLay seems to think that by repeating Rove's odious, slanderous remarks and saying that it's the truth somehow makes those remarks true.

Doesn't work that way, Tommy boy. If you're going to slander folks, it would really, really help if you could provide an example or two of what you're saying.

See, when I call you a corrupt horse's ass, I'd have to provide some information about your dealings with Jack Abramoff and put up a picture of your ugly mug. The "corrupt" part would pretty much take care of itself at that point, though the casual viewer would probably have to be in a generous mood to think you looked as good as a horse's ass.

It's a chance I'm willing to take.

but, no lie, I saw his statements on Oberman and immediately thought, "What's wrong with him? Is he doing something?" But of course in my line of work, we are supposed to key-in on behaviors that would suggest that one's conscious has been altered.

Damn! As was mentioned above - The Hammer was Hammered! The foregoing should be one of our next talking points to "pound home" on C-SPAN tomorrow until the day they kick Delay out of The House?

His problem wasn't being drunk. He's an ignorant, self-righteous, hypocritical redneck. You know, Like W and the rest of the bunch running the country. And when I say redneck I'm not referring to people from any geographical region. I'm from the South, and lots of people here aren't rednecks, but lots are. Being a redneck is a state of mind, not where you're from. I grew up with quite a few, and believe me, they're scary. They're really scary when they run the government. Bad things happen! I think we're aware of just how bad.

71. Does he drive his own car?
I can see him wrapping his car around a pole on an icy Washington night, killing himself and probably some innocent people he hits. His blood alcohol will be found in autopsy to be twice the legal limit, with perhaps Oxycontin and other drugs.

But those results will not be released, because Drudge will announce that Rove's death was all Clinton's fault. And that'll be good enough.

as the wheels of their bus continue to come off, and they realize that people are actually not buying their BS anymore.

I'd love to see an annotated trendline for liquor sales in the DC/VA/MD area at the stores closest to the center of government and their local homes. It could be interesting seeing these guys sink deeper and deeper. Look for the spikes in sales right after specific events ("DSM gets more publicity", sales go up; "People don't accept their dismantling of Social Security" - sales go up).
