1. he'll speak immediately after the next vote is concluded ...
he was about to speak when Domenici requested he speak after the vote on the Energy Bill amendments ...

Kennedy had just concluded his speech on US policy in Iraq ... Ted did a great job citing the total failure of bush's policies ...

7. Well complain to the Republicans who have stacked the schedule!
They were on the floor nearly 12 hours yesterday.

6. No one ever said he was going to speak...
He has a letter for the Senate Intelligence Committee that is being circulated to other Dem Senators to sign. It was supposed to be released a couple of days ago, but (last word I received)it has been delayed for other signatures. A written request for an investigation is the procedure. He's floowing Senate protocal. Otherwise he won't get anywhere.

Also, if anyone has been watching the Senate the last few days they are slamming with the energy bill and ammendments as well as a stack of various committee meetings.

When I alerted here that action was coming soon, it was not anticipated that it would be delayed. My source was confident. Sorry...

And if he raises the issue with a letter or a speech, it's "raising the issue" regardless. ;)

Edited because I had is "actual" words wrong.

13. Kerry's words on DSM
"When I go back (to Washington) on Monday, I am going to raise the issue," he said of the memo, which has not been disputed by either the British or American governments. "I think it's a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home. And it's amazing to me the way it escaped major media discussion. It's not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that."

11. No problem. His office did tell me he would bring the issue to the floor.
I assumed that meant he'd be speaking on it? I imagine he'll say something when he gets signatures won't he? Perhaps that's not necessary once he has an official statement in writing.

I am thankful for his inquiry regardless of how it happens.

I don't mind the delay, and I do appreciate the update.

14. Here's an advance script of Kerry's comments
from Rawstory.com

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Advance_Kerry_blasts_Rove_for_outrageous_line_on__0623.html

This is an excerpt:

(...)
And that's not being done. If you're going to use 9/11, if you're going to be impassioned about the lives lost on 9/11, then do so by making us safer."

Karl Rove doesn't owe me an apology, he doesn't owe Democrats an apology, he owes her an apology -- he owes an apology to every one of those families who paid the ultimate price on September 11th.

Millions of Americans across our country are questioning whether this Administration is making us safe. Kristen Breitweiser wants to tell her daughter that she'll grow up in a country safer than on the day her father was taken from her.

Mothers and fathers spend sleepless nights worrying about sons and daughters in humvees in Iraq that aren't protected. They're asking Washington for honesty and results and leadership, not political division.

Before Karl Rove delivers another political assault, he needs to think about those families. The 9-11 Commission has given us a path to follow, endorsed by Democrats, Republicans, and the 9-11 families. Implement the recommendations of that commission. We shouldn't be letting ninety-five percent of container ships come into our ports without ever being physically inspected. We shouldn't be leaving our nuclear and chemical plants without enough protection.

Until they've done the work of making America safe, don't dare question the patriotism of Americans who offer a better direction. Before wrapping themselves in the memory of September 11th, and shutting their eyes and ears to the truth, they should remember what America is really all about -- that leadership isn't insult or intimidation, it's the strength of making America safe -- they should remember what their responsibility is to every American -- and start to do the work of living up to it.

20. When is a Dem gonna say ...
that the President should be fighting the War on Terror instead of an illegal war on the sovereign nation of Iraq, a nation that had nothing to do with the attacks on 9/11??

When is a Dem gonna say that the President's plan on fighting the War on Terror was to actually create MORE terrorists by invading and occupying a country that had NOTHING to do with the attacks on 9/11??

Iraq is now the new training ground on urban terrorism for all terrorist groups who seek to harm the U.S. Is the president proud of that achievement? When is a Dem gonna ask him that?

The administration is still busy trying to keep the LIE going ... and still insist TODAY that Iraq and 9/11 totally linked. Where are the Dem leaders calling him on the LIE and insisting on the truth for the American people??

27. Yes, this is the heart of the problem. Until that happens...
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 03:41 PM by confludemocrat
all the rest, all the rhetorical elegance and niceties and flourishes like this one don't mean very much, OK don't mean jackshit:

"Karl Rove doesn't owe me an apology, he doesn't owe Democrats an apology, he owes her an apology -- he owes an apology to every one of those families who paid the ultimate price on September 11th."

As subtly (too subtle) conveyed as this is here above, it just doesn't cut it. Still waiting.
So far demos won't face this issue, and they could be left behind for having a big platform to set things right, and failing, if they keep this up.

Actually Rove does owe everyone in the country an apology so why not admit he does and especially that he owes one to people like this person Kerry refers to? How hard is that?

I'd say he's pissed. And an angry Kerry is generally a wonder to behold.
