Purple finger - the Iraqi election - a fallacy
Lots of rightnuts point out "Yay! The Iraqis had an election!"

Problem is, they have had plenty of elections. Not the most free, but they had elections.

So, the rightnuts have to qualify it. "Free elections."

Elections alone do not make a democracy.

Remember, the old Soviet Union had "elections", also. Just ONE PARTY elections . . . (sound like a possible US future?)

1. Yes, but what finger? probably the middle one.
or perhaps the thumb, which is considered obscene in some countries.

2. Karl Rove has said as much
His public comments about the various reactions to the September 11 attacks amount to elimination of any person or party that disagrees with the reckless policies of the corrupt Bush administration. I can't imagine a public figure making comments much more inflammatory than that, but evidently every other Republican in the country agrees with Rove, because none of them have denounced his comments.

3. Free elections?
You mean they didn't turn them upside down and empty their pockets?

On second thought, there wasn't any need to. It's on our dime.
