4. Smith was very credible, but..
David Kay and James Woolsey are coming on next.. you can guess why.

Anyway, Smith says that the briefing document made by the British cabinet two days before the DSM is more important because it shows that Blair .. in 2002 at the Crawford summit with Bush .. had agreed to war with Iraq for the purpose of "regime change," which is illegal under international law. After that, his purpose and Bush's was to take steps to justify the war for other reasons because they had to make it look like it wasn't for regime change.

Nasty.

Sue

9. Ted Kennedy took lots of flak from republicans
for his declaration that "this war was cooked up in Crawford Texas." Even my mouth dropped when I heard him say that (might have been on Hannity & Colmes or Meet the Press). Rush was on fire about this (Kennedy needs to be censured;Kennedy needs to resign;Kennedy needs to be expelled for giving aid & comfort to the enemy, etc:) Looks like Ol' Ted was right after all. Screw you Rush.

5. Michael Smith answered the question--"fixed" means "fixed."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2005/06/14/DI2005061401261.html

Fairfax, Va.: Do you expect we will see more leaks which further corroborate the assertion that Bush lied to justify the neoconservatives' aggressive stance against Iraq? Also, what are your thoughts on the semantics argument of the Iraq war supporters (i.e., in the U.K., "fixed around" doesn't mean what you think it means...)?

Michael Smith: There are number of people asking about fixed and its meaning. This is a real joke. I do not know anyone in the UK who took it to mean anything other than fixed as in fixed a race, fixed an election, fixed the intelligence. If you fix something, you make it the way you want it. The intelligence was fixed and as for the reports that said this was one British official. Pleeeaaassee! This was the head of MI6. How much authority do you want the man to have? He has just been to Washington, he has just talked to George Tenet. He said the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. That translates in clearer terms as the intelligence was being cooked to match what the administration wanted it to say to justify invading Iraq. Fixed means the same here as it does there. More leaks? I do hope so and the more Blair and Bush lie to try to get themselves off the hook the more likely it is that we will get more leaks.

go to war is an impeachable offense.

Now Woolsey is brining up their old standby--Saddam's rape rooms. They always fall back on that to justify this unnecessary, illegal war and to attempt to silence critics.

8. True, no one doubts Saddam was a dictator and a murderer but one that
we put in power, one that was not a threat to us or anyone in the region and the lies to justify the war = an impeachable offense and the atrocities that Saddam had done to his people does not equal one Brave US Soldiers life. Arm a resistance movement, successfully for once! Don't send our Brave to die for lies!

10. Thanks for the heads-up on that, I never watch
it anymore. Dick Gregory was great! Finally they discussed the the fixed intelligence and not just Bush wanting to go to war soon, which really isn't the damaging part. Oberman's show discussed it also. Damm that's the most I've seen on it in the news. Hope it lasts.
