Jeb had private meeting with medical examiner re Schiavo
http://www.sptimes.com/2005/06/18/Opinion/Move_on__Gov_Bush.shtml

Gov. Jeb Bush showed his best side the other day when he let down his guard and talked to young leaders about what he has learned about himself since he has been in office. Then he turned right around and indulged his worst impulses by asking prosecutors to review the circumstances surrounding Terri Schiavo's collapse 15 years ago. It is a callous, arrogant, defiant act by a stubborn governor who can't accept facts at odds with his own views.

The Pinellas-Pasco medical examiner's thorough autopsy found no evidence that Schiavo had been abused or drugged. There were no broken bones or other signs she had been attacked. Bush even went over the autopsy report in an extraordinary private meeting with the medical examiner, but he can't stand it that the cause of her collapse could not be pinned down. Now he has asked Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe to examine how much time passed between Schiavo's collapse and Michael Schiavo's call for help. This is a desperate politician abusing his power in an attempt to justify his previous interference in this tragedy, and McCabe should spend no more than five minutes on it.

The autopsy report says Michael Schiavo called 911 about 5:40 a.m. to summon help for his wife. Paramedics found her not breathing at 5:52 a.m., and a pulse was measured at 6:32 a.m. A University of South Florida pathology professor who reviewed the autopsy reports for the Times said he does not believe Schiavo could have been revived if her husband had waited 70 minutes to call for help. Michael Schiavo's lawyer agrees. It does not require a formal review by prosecutors to ask Michael Schiavo again about what time he found his wife, and the answer is not likely to get any clearer.

But state law, medical conclusions by experts and court rulings by dozens of judges did not stop Bush from irrationally contesting Schiavo's constitutional right to have her end-of-life wishes followed. Now he won't let her autopsy be the final word. Despite his candid self-assessment earlier this week about his impatience and certainty of his own opinions, Bush really hasn't learned much at all about accepting when he is wrong and moving on.

1. Have you ever known people who know that they've
screwed up who deliberately resume the same behavior in an effort to prove they did not do so?

John Ellis Bush may well be one of those people.

Edited on Sat Jun-18-05 07:54 PM by BrklynLiberal
sitting around and actually taking bites of the body of Terri Schiavo...like cannibals. That is EXACTLY how they are behaving. They are cannibalizing her memory and her situation to further their own private agendas. It could not be more revolting if they were actually sitting down at a table with knives and forks, with her body on a plate in front of them.

This includes her parents and siblings as well.

They truly make me want to :puke:

3. Somebody needs to get in Jeb's face and ask if there aren't REAL crimes
that need to be solved in Florida.

4. When you believe men who tell you they're getting orders from god
that leaves absolutely no wiggle room for admitting maybe just maybe you were dead wrong about something.

Instead of reviewing all the stuff from the paramedics (which will show exactly the same thing, that they were called IMMEDIATELY but didn't get there in time to stop brain damage, perhaps he might consult the court records of the malpractice suit where a jury agreed that her collapse had been brought on by an electrolyte imbalance secondary to undiagnosed bulimia, something her physician should have spotted.

Jebbie has the arrogance of the religious nut who thinks god won't let him be wrong about anything. He's a shining example of why we so desperately need the separation of church and state, and why zealots need to be defeated and kept out of government. Just wishing a thing to be so never makes it so, and those voices in their heads are simply their own.

5. As usual, the Republican evildoers are following their typical script...

...of lie, lie, lie--and then lie some more---until unsubstantiated, ridiculous allegations stick.

There WAS no massive time lapse, between the time that Terri Schiavo collapsed and her husband called 911. NONE. This has been covered many times before in the investigation. Michael Schiavo addressed this question on Larry King Live. He said he called right away. The paramedics who initially worked on Terri--and the doctors at the hospital backed up what Michael said.

Terri was drinking 10 glasses of iced tea daily--to avoid gaining weight. Her doctors said her electrolytes were screwed up and her potassium levels out of wack--indicating a possible eating disorder. She collapsed, probably due to an eating disorder. Why, Mr. Bush do you ignore this evidence presented by Terri's doctors?

The Schindler's initially started this rumor--which has no basis in fact.

Now Jeb is promoting this rubbish. My. God. I'm so outraged at this!!

Medical evidence suggests that Michael Schiavo called 911 immediately, and the doctors and paramedics back him up. These sickening, dysfunctional parents concoct fantasies, and Jeb is RIGHT THERE--willing to disparage and slander Michael Schiavo--even though the evidence demonstrates that he DID EVERYTHING TO SAVE HER!

If I was Michael Schiavo, I would be on the air fighting this vitriol tooth and nail!!!! He can make Jeb look like a fool. Just state the facts, Michael. Jeb can be discredited with the facts and maybe it's time he's humiliated and made to look like the reckless, opportunistic, unChristian, malicious pig that he is.

I'm so tired of the LIES!!! I just can't stand it any more!!

6. I think it's time to reopen all of the old cases and investigations

about Jeb's activities, including loan invovements. After all, there are bound to be some discrepancies and unanswered questions there.

7. What a FANTASTIC editorial!
Jeb is described as:

indulging his worst impulses
callous
arrogant
defiant
stubborn
abusing power
attempting to justify his views
interfering
irrational
unaccepting

Who'd have thunk it?

8. Michael Schiavo should sue JEB! for harrassment, attempted kidnapping
and anything else he can think of. I'm sure plenty of lawyers in Florida would be willing to pursue the case on a contingency basis. JEB! is completely out of control. Anybody who still thinks JEB! isn't a megalomaniacal, election-stealing son of a bitch just isn't paying attention.

16. Ah, Mark Fuhrman
Law enforcement genius. Only an idiot like Fuhrman could've turned an open and shut case like the O.J. murders into a hands-down acquittal. Schiavo has nothing to fear.
