The Conyers hearing - We made history yesterday! A call for $$$$
We made history yesterday!

We made history yesterday!

Thirty-five Congress Members attended a hearing organized by AfterDowningStreet.org and Congressman John Conyers. The hearing examined the question of whether there is good cause to investigate possible impeachable offenses by the President in his justification of the war.

Congressman Charles Rangel said at the hearing, "Quite frankly, evidence that appears to be building up points to whether or not the president has deliberately misled Congress to make the most important decision a president has to make, going to war."

Seven Congress Members, immediately after the hearing, proceeded to the White House, where Conyers delivered a letter, bearing 122 Congress Members' signatures and those of 560,000 Americans. The letter demanded answers to the troubling facts presented in the Downing Street Minutes. These seven members then joined the AfterDowningStreet.org coalition and several hundred supporters at a rally in Lafayette Square Park.

And we awoke the mainstream media! They are now asking questions at White House press brifings, writing articles, and chattering away on the broadcast media.

We did all of this in exactly three weeks, and we're exhausted but exhilerated. However, this is the beginning, not the end, and if we are going to be able to continue, we will need funding.

This is a turning point.

1. Every one wants money!
I get so many solicitations daily. This resistance movement requires a lot of funding, admittedly. I suppose it boils down to putting one's money where their mouth is. It certainly is a good thing that money means nothing to me, at least until I haven't any.

2. It would be a little easier to solicit funding...
If Conyers had the backing of the ENTIRE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, but as yet, Conyes is the only Democrat that has had the balls to even mention the DSM in Congress...

4. Yes but......
This is one of the most critical items at the time and the one that has the best chance of bringing down the * house of cards.

5. He wasn't alone, tho. In fact, the hearings DEPENDED on
Bonifaz's testimony for the real meat. Wilson, as much as I adore him, merely reiterated his story -- mportant, but not all that central to the DSM. The Gold Star Mom was -- sorry -- frankly irrelevent, tho heartbreaking. McGovern was great and an extremely important witness, but also said a few things that while I don't personally object to them could still serve to cloud his testimony.

It was Bonifaz who had the real meat regarding impeachment and from a legal perspective put in lay terms. HE's put together this COALITION of some 122 ORGANIZATIONS.

Not taking ANYthing away from Conyers, but Bonifaz deserves support as well. Anytrhing sent to Conyers is for his re-election. What's sent to Bonifaz is to press this issue forward. Both deserve our support, IMO, and it's not an either/or situation.
