JUST POSTED TO YAHOO NEWS!!
============================================================
540,000 Petitions Delivered to President Bush Demanding Truth About Iraq War; Downing Street Memos Trigger Public Outrage Over Deception

Thu Jun 16,11:30 AM ET

To: Assignment Desk, Daybook Editor
Contact: Trevor FitzGibbon, Jessica Smith or Steve Smith, 202-822-5200, all for MoveOn PAC

News Advisory:

Rep. John Conyers (news, bio, voting record) (D-Mich.) today will hand-deliver to the White House a petition signed by 105 members of Congress and more than 540,000 Americans demanding that President Bush provide a detailed response to the smoking gun evidence in the Downing Street memos of deceptions about the war in Iraq.

"The Downing Street memos are absolute proof that President Bush lied to the American people," said Tom Matzzie, MoveOn PAC Washington director. "He lied about the reasons we went to war, the post-war plans, the human and financial cost of the war, and now he is lying about America's future plans in Iraq."

MoveOn PAC, other organizations and thousands of ordinary Americans over the past two weeks gathered the signatures for Rep. Conyers. MoveOn PAC gathered more than 360,000 signatures, two-thirds of the total signatures on the petition.

The three million-member grassroots organization MoveOn PAC, is calling for an exit strategy from Iraq with an expressed timeline.

"The war in Iraq is a quagmire. The American people overwhelmingly want to get out of Iraq. The president is out of touch with the reality of Iraq," concluded Matzzie.

Petition delivery details:
WHO: Rep. John Conyers
WHERE: The White House, West Appointment Gate on Pennsylvania Avenue
WHEN: TODAY, Thursday, June 16, 4 p.m. EDT

---
EDITOR'S NOTE: Tom Matzzie, MoveOn PAC Washington director, will be at the event and available for comment. Great visuals with White House backdrop and thousands of petitions.

4. Great News!
One question though - Do petitions legally require a response? Could the Chimp just totally ignore it?

9. It wouldn't take my rating and remained at zero stars
Even though I was signed in to Yahoo, and clicked five stars.

12. I rated that up and it still shows 0 votes.
Something a little fishy about that. I also sent CNN some feedback on their lack of coverage.

14. It's a press advisory, not really an "article" per se --- maybe that's it
