In this mornings Gulfport, MS Sun-Herald's Soundoff Section, one fine citizen is irate that the paper had a large headline announcing the deaths of American Servicemembers in Iraq had passed 1,700.

"Since the beginning of the Iraq War, more than 100,000 lives were lost on America's Highways. No headline proclaims those lives lost in vain. Should we close America's Highways?"

Damn near verbatim from professor limbaugh. Good student. What incredible logic. It must be sad to go through life with such rationalizations infecting your brain.

That these nitwits think that if the number killed wasn't in the paper, it wouldn't have happened. That by naming the beast, the newspaper has somehow called it into being.

Remember, there were 287 homicides of US citizens on foreign soil last year (apart from invasion casualties), yet we only seem to focus on one or three of them, and then only at particular times in various news cycles...
