Why are the Democrats and Howard Dean in particular not attacking
the Republicans for allowing Mary Carey attend a party fundraiser? They attacked the Democrats when one congresswoman had a fundraiser at the playboy mansion. I think they should make this issue. She has sex with men on camera for money and the party of "family values" is associating with her.

3. Because "they" control the media.
Ever notice that anything critical against the * administration tends to get censored or ignored completely. Kinda like the DSM.

5. Because it's not all that important
Yes, they're hypocrites, claiming all this piety and family values crap while allowing sex workers like Carey and Guckert access. However, it's not policy that hurts people in general, so it's OK to take the high road on that one.

Besides, it's really up to us to laugh our asses off at sanctimonious right wingers and remind them of the whores of both sexes servicing their demigods in the White House.

Not to mention that Jesus associated with whores and protected them from Mosaic law. The right wingers would claim their little tin Jesus was just being Christlike....

7. I agree. It wasn't hard to see how the Pugs would counter, piously, with
"hate the sin, not the sinner" or some such. The whole thing was pretty small potatoes, in the scheme of things. There's so much else to concentrate on, and only 24 hours in a day.

13. The big problem with the pugs
They preach "hate the sin and love the sinner", but practice "hate the sinner and love the sin"!

6. the more pertinent question is
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 09:18 AM by MindPilot
why would people from the porn industry give money to the Republicans who have made the destruction of the porn industry part of their platform?

On Edit: That of course is not something that makes sense for the party leader to address. It's more the stuff of observational comedy except it's not funny, just stupid.

8. Do I need to state the obvious?
For republicans, political donations = bribes.

OK?

11. obviously, but looking at this from the other side...
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 09:35 AM by MindPilot
my point is do Cary & Kulkis think for a minute that their bribe...er...um...donation is going to get the wingers to stop appeasing the Christians and leave porn alone? If they do, I put them in the "really naive" category.

On the other hand, maybe there is going to be "christian porn" and these two are going to get the first no-bid contract.

15. The GOP has turned hypocrisy into a fine art
The pimps and whores are buying favors, or more accurately protection, with their megabuck donations. The right wing anti-porn crusade is just a shakedown to make sure they cough up.

It also rallies the faithful on election day. But it's a sham like everything else.

16. Do you realize how much publicity this has garnered for Carey and
her manager and his company? Way, way beyond what their $5000 ticket price would buy. Millions of dollars worth of publicity. That's why they did this.

19. Didn't Mary Carey endorse same-sex marriage....?
...when she ran for Governor of California in the recall election, I thought Carey said that CA should legalize gay marriage to make California into the nation's top honeymoon destination for gay/lesbian couples?

So why would the GOP even want Mary Carey at one of their fundraisers?

20. Because they can't have it both ways.
They can't say Clinton's BJ was "just about sex" and then squawk about a Republican pornstar.

Hypocrisy on both sides over a non-story.
