Video - Fox Sunday: Hume and Kristol bicker over Gitmo fate

While Bill Kristol and the other panelists at Fox News Sunday seemed to agree that Gitmo might be closed, Brit Hume refused to accept the possibility.

Brit must have gotten programmed by the GOP denial cult this weekend. He's a good robot.

Watching the right-wingers frustrated with each other is a nice change.

2. That is a fascinating clip
Hume seems to be personally offended by the discussion and goes so far as to call Abu Ghraib a "public relations failure" without addressing the substance of the complaints against either Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo.

3. Hume - "you can't treat them like regular prisoners"
and - why would that be? Most of these people haven't even been charged with crimes. And how should these prisoners be treated? Is it okay to hold them to a different standard than Prisoners of War?

How absurd.

7. Notice that Hume pointed out if the Gitmo prisoners were moved to
the U.S. "different rules would apply".

The prisoners would then have due process in the law, right, Brit? And remember, this president is so paranoid he wouldn't allow non-sheeple, American citizens to attend his public-speaking appearances without signing a loyalty oath. Those wearing non-*Bush political buttons/t-shirts were roughed up & booted out of the events. So we know first-hand how quick-on-the-draw this administration is when assigning guilt.

8. and how adamant he was that our prison system not be used
wtf was that? Why is it okay to treat terror suspects inhumanely? We have proof that doesn't work. What a fascist idiot.

10. We also know that torture techniques don't evoke accurate information.

Which is why the U.S. "torture rooms" are overflowing with suspects.

5. Unbelievable!
Brit looked like a total ASS! Bill Crystal looked reasonable. Will wonders never cease? Just when you thought the torture issue was lost because of Newsweek, it might be starting to get some legs.

6. Extraordinary.
This looks like it may be the start of a real split among conservative intellectuals--the pro-Rummy and anti-Rummy camps, if you will.

the real problem. Don't get caught up in the stupidity of closing it down. They will just move the prisoners to remote islands in the Indian Ocean - without airports. Those prisoners will be worse off - no Senators visiting them, then doing nothing.

Learn more about the real problem. Lawyerless human beings kept in cage like conditions whose tormentors pxxx on their Korans.

A good per cent of them have been found innocent and they knowit. Meanwhile, familes are destroyed.

Brought to you by people who don't believe in retribution.

12. That. Was. Awesome.
Just another bit of fodder to my theory that, with a good lay and some good weed, Trotskyite Kristol would come around.

Uh, that aside...

I thought it was fascinating that Hume set it out quite nicely for the freepers:

American Left = Europe = People Who Hate America

What a fucking asshole.

And -- the fact that some in the GOP are on the side of closing it down, or agreeing that it's a bad thing proves, to me, that it must be more horrible than we could imagine, or has been reported -- and they're just trying to get in front of the ball. That's usually their strategy.

'rabid', and ''detached from reality'.

18. Hume used to be senior White House correspondent for ABC news
During the rain (sic) of GHW Bush, it was Britt Hume who came on ABC TV every night and told us how okeley-dokely everything Poppy was doing was.

My point: Hume has NEVER been an objective journalist, in spite of the fact that he long represented a major news outlet.

And what was true for Hume then is true for Blitzer, Kurtz, Cameron, Stossel and many more today.

Liberal media, my foot!

19. Thanks, Interesting Clip, Recommended!
Wheels def coming off -- look at the way they are all looking at Hume like he's, well, nuts. The only way to "fight terror" is to run prison camps in which detainees permanently have no charges, due process, trials, or rights??

When that truly becomes the law of the land, then you know the terrorists really have won.
