Video: Lott Thinks Opposition To Janice Rogers Brown Is Based On Race
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 01:24 PM by Mark Williams
The GOP still doesn't get it. Janice Rogers Brown is opposed by the Democrats because she is far out of the mainstream. Democrats have repeatedly made the points on the floor but Sen. Trent Lott thinks that we oppose her because shes a black woman.

One question, why does Trent Lott always end up talking about race?

1. Pure Bizarro World nonsense . . .
Lott doesn't think for one nanosecond that Dems oppose Brown because she's brown. He just thinks Americans are as dumb as dirt and will believe anything if he says it often enough.

2. Smoke and Mirrors
It's all smoke and mirrors to make the Democrats to look bad. Trent Lott can't talk about race after what he said. Their supposed to be opposed to affirmative action and are up there saying that she should be on the court because she's black.

16. THAT is the most mindblowing about it.
"They're supposed to be opposed to affirmative action and are up there saying that she should be on the court because she's black."

Its doublespeak on all ends.

3. Did the ghost of his hero Strom Thurmond tell him to say that?
Let's not let Lott off the hook for praising Thurmond to the high heavens.

6. Given that he had to go on BET to apologize for lionizing Thurmond
the way he did, and saying that had Thurmond been elected president "we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years," he's got a lot of nerve calling or implying that anyone is a racist.

7. "She is an African-American Conservative Woman"
He didn't just focus on the race, although one should wonder why race or gender is even mentioned at all.

He knows she's a radical Zealot for the Christofascists. I am surprised he didn't make her religion an issue.

10. Brown is a damn TOKEN!
This is how Repukes try to cover up that fact. They try to paint Democrats as the racists they are.

11. Because they are ruthless.
They take the worst interpretation possible and run with it. Seen it time and time again going back to early Clinton years. It is a main strategy in elections and issue framing with them. Doesn't matter if it's true or not.

We dems don't do it that way, publically anyway. And we have an administration that has shown time and time again that our worst possible interpretation of their issues is probably justified. Instead, our dem leaders and the media insist on the BEST possible interpretation, dismissing evidence to the contrary. We have missed dozens and dozens of opportunities to force discussion on very serious issues and we let the opportunity just slide by.

I'm not saying stoop to the GOP's level....I'm saying don't take the best interpretation in order to let the issue die from lack of attention.

17. The Republicans must be insane....
if they have this well known racist jerk spilting out this shit, the republicans have really fallen off the deep end. I mean come on, they can come up with something better than this asshole, at least make it a little bit more believable. :dunce:

Plus I can't stand Trent Lott...brings back bad memories of how he gave me his stupid smirk, when he walked by me during my D.C. trip..:puke:
