Military Families on Downing Street Memo; GSFfP going to Congress June 15
Hi all, I did a search and didn't find this posted yet. This along with MFAW (Military Families Against the War Britain) http://www.petitiononline.com/mfaw/petition.html">petition for public investigation re DSM; the military family voice organizations are weighing in. Btw, GSFfP (Gold Star Families for Peace) press release below was on DailyKos yesterday, recommended and front page. Cindy Sheehan stepping up on this one so as not to grow the membership of Gold Star Families for Peace and frankly, I'm not wanting to qualify to join GSFfP as my 2 Iraq Veterans (now) are still alive. Both though under orders and Stop Loss for 2nd deployments to Iraq in few short months. I prefer to remain an active member of MFSO and thank you to Cindy for the work she does with GSFfP and her help to try to keep that membership from growing. Qualifications; have lost loved one in war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'm becoming hopeful again.

Lietta Ruger, a member family of MFSO (Military Families Speak Out) and see the article I wrote yesterday on DSM at

Gold Star Families for Peace (GSFP) In Washington, DC 15 June, 2005

Demand Resolution of Inquiry into Downing Street Memo

Members of Gold Star Families for Peace will be meeting with members of Congress on 15 June, 2005 to demand that each individual member act in accordance with his/her conscience, integrity, courage and duty as employees of America sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and abide by its contents.

GSFP believes that the so-called Downing Street Memo is the "smoking gun" proof that is a validation of the fact that the invasion/occupation of Iraq is based on deceit and prefabricated intelligence. We believe that lying to Congress and the American people is traitorous and constitutes "high crimes and misdemeanors" and are impeachable offenses. We will be calling on members of the House of Representatives to begin a Resolution of Inquiry into the memo as first step to introducing Articles of Impeachment against George Bush, Dick Cheney and everyone in the Cabinet who also lied. It is not only the House's obligation and duty as sworn elected officials to do so, it is also their responsibilities as members of humanity. GSFP members have had valuable, loved and indispensable loved ones murdered for the deceits of this Executive Branch of our government.

GSFP believes that our loved ones have died needlessly, senselessly, and avoidably in the aggression against Iraq. We would like to see someone held accountable for the irresponsible deaths of American forces as well as tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens.

GSFP will be holding a press-conference before we visit Congress in the morning on June 15th. Time and place TBA. Pleace call contact for more info.

14. don't have any more info on who Cindy is meeting with in DC
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 01:56 PM by WebeBlue
Cindy Sheehan, GSFfP,is well enough known and has been media covered extensively, referencing her son, Casey who died in Iraq, so ignoring her visit would not be a good move as it will get press.

4. Glad to see...
the military families are taking up the DSM cause. Knowing from the very beginning that this "war" was a huge Bush Co. scam has been something very hard for me to live with. So much needless death and destruction. I hope to the gods there is a hell, so I can die a little content knowing Bush & Co. will be rotting there for eternity for the crimes they have perpetrated on our soldiers and the Iraqi people.

9. Bush Lied
and has committed numerous impeachable offenses. Funny, Ken Starr and the rest are suddenly silent about the wrong doings of this misadministration. They used to be so righteous.

17. Let's help
Perhaps those with media email addresses or contacts can advise media outlets of the press conference so that the thing gets coverage. Alternatively, you can pass along media contact information and we can ALL send emails asking for coverage.

23. Excelent news!
Does anyone have a list of all of the veterans groups that are signed on to demanding full investigations? The longer the list=the larger the club we have to beat the repubs to the table.
