DISASTROUS POLL Numbers For Chimpy (ABC/WP)
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 08:53 AM by Beetwasher
Poll Finds Dimmer View of Iraq War
52% Say U.S. Has Not Become Safer

For the first time since the war in Iraq began, more than half of the American public believes the fight there has not made the United States safer, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

--snip--

Nearly three-quarters of Americans say the number of casualties in Iraq is unacceptable, while two-thirds say the U.S. military there is bogged down and nearly six in 10 say the war was not worth fighting -- in all three cases matching or exceeding the highest levels of pessimism yet recorded. More than four in 10 believe the U.S. presence in Iraq is becoming analogous to the experience in Vietnam.

Perhaps most ominous for President Bush, 52 percent said war in Iraq has not contributed to the long-term security of the United States, while 47 percent said it has. It was the first time a majority of Americans disagreed with the central notion Bush has offered to build support for war: that the fight there will make Americans safer from terrorists at home. In late 2003, 62 percent thought the Iraq war aided U.S. security, and three months ago 52 percent thought so.

Overall, more than half -- 52 percent -- disapprove of how Bush is handling his job, the highest of his presidency. A somewhat larger majority -- 56 percent -- disapproved of Republicans in Congress, and an identical proportion disapproved of Democrats.

1. Miraculously, though, voters will change their minds when casting
their Diebold ballots and overwhelmingly support Bush.

Weird how that happens...

3. Polls don't mean nothing. Just look at how wrong the
poorly designed, exit polls were. The repukes will win the next election and everyone will be left wondering how a party that had a 10 percent approval rating got elected. Just watch.

4. Errr, Poorly Designed Exit Polls? Really?
What makes you think it was the exit polls? They've been designed that way for quite some time and never been wrong before. :eyes:

6. That is what I am waiting for one little stump of a repuke to say
when after I sent him the article.
I am sure I will get a long dissertation about how it is Clinton's fault and it will mention that the Arabs behead Americans and all sorts of useless dribble.
I never miss a chance to poke his precious little dubya and get his blood pressure pumped up.

7. bad news for bush; but no good news for Democrats ..
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 09:06 AM by welshTerrier2
as long as Senate Dems continue to support bush's occupation in Iraq, they will remain the MINORITY PARTY !!! got that ??? The Democratic Party has failed America in three key areas:
1. they support bush's occupation of Iraq
2. they have not offered a clear vision on how to fix the economy
3. they have failed to make reclaiming our democracy from the corporate state the core of their platform ...

in short, they are failing to demonstrate to the American people that they can lead ... wanna see the results of these failures? here ya go:

source (see link in the base post):

"56 percent -- disapproved of Republicans in Congress, and an identical proportion disapproved of Democrats."

bush is going down big time because his administration is a total catastrophe ... how sad it is that, in spite of his failures, Democrats are NOT GAINING STRENGTH !!!

it is time to call for a withdrawal from bush's debacle in Iraq ... OUT NOW is the only policy that makes any sense with bush in the WH ... and it is time for Democrats to start educating Americans about their vision ... if we wait for the slate of 2006 candidates to give us their individual opinions, we are DEAD !!!!!

12. "time for Democrats to start educating Americans about their vision ... "
Oh, if only they had one! You've pretty well delineated their lack of one in the rest of your post. But you are exactly right that if they took the positions you propose it would be an absolutely winning proposition. I'm just not holding my breath. (sigh)

8. Imagine what the poll numbers
would look like if the MSM started to do its job and inform the American people about the true cost of the war in terms of American and Iraqi lives -- not only the dead but the wounded and maimed, not to mention the destruction of the country's infrastructure and the big money being forked over and wasted by Halliburton.

The Iraq war to this point has been a joint propaganda effort of the BFEE and American media whores. Imagine what would happen if the whores left the brothel.

13. But, But, But.....
60% would rather have a beer with him than (insert Democrats name here).

Jeebus!! Hate to say to the 51% that gave ole' * his so-called Man-Date..."We Told You So".

No wonder the Army can't meet it's recruiting goals. What Bush voter in their right mind (and I use that term loosely) would send their kids to be used by this "effing" disastrous excuse for a human "effing" being.

But, hell!! Let's make him pResident! I hear he's a hit at parties!

We need an "I'm ashamed for America Smilie"
