Straight up: Will you vote for Dean if he's nominated?
Just a yes or no in the subject line if you'd be so kind, please. My purpose is to gather simple data without any editorials or other opinion, and I hope that our mutual respect for each other wins out on this one. Thanks in advance! :hi:

6. Yes
I'd vote for a pile of dog poo if it was running against Bush.

That said Clark is our only chance, Dean will only give us a McGovernesque defeat.

ABB, Dean, Sharpton, Kucinich, at the moment I prefer Clark, but as soon as the primaries are decided, when it is totaly obvious but before the convention, the nominee gets at least $100 maybe more depending on my taxes.
At that point I will be the most fervent Dean suporter of all, but until that point I will suport whom ever I want, no matter what Al Gore has to say.

This is my first attempt to gather data on this subject, and I have not participated on other threads such as this one. I don't know of other similar threads, but their possible existence would not negate the purpose of this thread. I'm looking for real time, current as in "today" data for statistical study... thanks. :hi:

70. A couple of things...
you might get better responses if you tell people why you want the data...what you're using it for.

Second. I'm dubious about any statistical validity you could have in such a self-selected sample.

52. Here's the rule right here.
Rules to start discussion threads in the General Discussion forums

3. The subject line of a discussion thread may not include profanity or swear words, even if words or letters are replaced by asterisks, dashes, or abbreviations.

67. Will... hit a reply button on any message of your choice.
Look at the top line. What is the word beside the first line of any post?

"SUBJECT"

That make the first line the... SUBJECT LINE!

That wasn't too difficult, was it?

Now, if a rule say no cursing in a subject line, it means... NO CURSING IN A SUBJECT LINE.

That's not to tough for you to follow, is it?

Everyone know how you love to occasionally blow your top and throw long rants of four letter words at people. However, you will just have to do it in the message area of a post now.

If you wanted to get info of the sort you're asking (no opinions posted), post a frickin' poll (which has been done to death here.) I'm sorry to get on a rant, but I'm really starting to get sick of half of the treads dealing with this exact topic matter. You know what the results are going to be, if you've been on the board for any amount of time, about 95% will say YES and 5% will say NO.

53. Too complicated for a yes or no
Let's see if I can explain this. At this point, I am supporting Wes Clark. I put most of my available energy (what's left after work, being a wife and mother, etc.) into that support. I don't have the time, energy, or interest to study Howard Dean right now. If he wins the nomination, then I will be forced to learn more about him so that I can make an informed decision. Until then, I can't answer this question.

I have to say that the diviseness and pissy comments between the Dean supporters and Clark supporters make me so sour sometimes that I don't want to vote at all. (Maybe this serves a larger GOP purpose when I think about it?)

Wesley Clark will always be my candidate of choice...for PRESIDENT. But I will vote for whoever gets the nomination. Wes will win!

77. No
I live in Virginia, which will go for Bush anyway. I'd throw away my vote for the Libertarians, for their enlightened stance on drugs.

In terms of jail sentencing and criminalization, I agree. In terms of total legalization, I don't find the libertarians very enlightened at all.

122. No it can't
Sorry, but you obviously don't live here. We were lucky to elect Mark Warner, a centrist Democrat governor who's very well thought of here, even by Republicans.

I don't care about how many points Bush won by last time, he will win by more than that this time. Virginia is a fairly progressive state in some ways, but very Republican as far as national elections. The last national Democrat to win here was Lyndon Johnson.

108. Kucinich is a good candidate, but please be prepared to bust.
Do you want to put all of your chips on one bet, especially on what is for now a pretty remote possibility, atleast for this election?

Do you believe holding a qualified stance is important enough to jeopardize our country for four more years?

If you care about your country, and I believe you do, I hope you will take a deeper look at the big picture and the severity of the situation facing the nation and our planet.

When we, and we all do this, resort to allowing ourselves to lock into a certain belief, and/or feel so passionately about something that we blind ourselves to other possibilities, it works against us because it blinds our ability to look at the consequences of such thinking, and we become so attached to our belief that we are right, that all other important elements become insignificant and simply put, wrong.

It reveals that we have more of a priority of wanting things our way versus doing the right thing, or more accurately, making a better or more qualified choice.

Unless mountains are moved pretty soon, I do not think Kucinich will be the Democratic nominee.

I believe in every thing Kucinich says. Many, if not most of us do here at DU, but I believe as well, hes too far ahead of much of America and our country is not fully prepared for a progressive voice like Kucinich.

I know that it sounds ridiculous to us because what Kucinich says is both logical and proactive, but theres alot of fear and ignorance driving American opinion, as well as the polls today.

If Kucinich and all Democrats could continue nurturing and expanding on the wisdom and information he is offering and allow him and others to increase his name recognition, he will become a more viable candidate along with having a nation more willing to accept someone like him.

My thoughts.

Sorry, but I'm not prepared to make that decision yet. At the moment my adherence to the ABB pledge is a bit shaky, even though I signed it. I'm not pleased with a lot of the candidates at the moment, Dean included, and that's causing me to rethink the wisdom of just going ABB.

127. In a word, yes
Is he my first choice? No. But if he gets the nomination, I'd vote for him. Heck, if Liberman got the nomination, I'd hold my nose and vote for him.

It's very sad to see people here that say that if x, y, or z gets the nomination, they won't vote for them, with excuses ranging from "too liberal", or "republican in disguise", or "too flaky", or "not a 'real" democrat", (or "not my type of democrat").

It's hard to believe there are people so petty that they'd rather have four more years of Shrub's mismanagement and looting than vote for the democratic nominee. (And yes, this is aimed towards anyone who says "If Dean gets the nomination, I won't vote for him" or says "If Clark gets the nomination, I won't vote for him", or whatever.

If I can hold my nose and vote for Liberman if he gets the nomination, you can bloody well hold your nose and vote for Dean, Clark, or whoever you may not personally like. Unless you'd really rather have four more years of Bush, in which case, go join the Republicans and root for him.)

but I'll work hard to nominate someone I like better before I cross that bridge. I don't have to cross it today, and hopefully will not have to cross it at all. Voting for Dr. Dean would be a last resort. Not a current priority.

Gathering data without opinion? I have to wonder how you mean to use that data. And if it will be accurate without the nuance behind the yes or no.

If someone posts a "no" reply, someone else is waiting in the wings to jump in and pronounce a vote for Bush. In other words, if a voter does not feel comfortable with howard dean, they are a bush supporter. A traitor to the party. That's flamebait. Why make it about dean? Why not just ask,

"Straight up--will you vote for the democrat, no matter who is nominated?"
