Should we be pushing Democrats to stand with Amnesty Int'l?
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 05:27 PM by oxbow
My initial thoughts are that we have a lot of balls in the air right now, and that it might be best to focus on key issues, ie. Downing st. and 2006.

Another side of me says that we have to stand up against torture, and that Guantanamo is just another example of a GOP controlled government overflowing with corruption. This side thinks that we should tie all this together with Tom Delay, Deep throat and the many other examples of corruption by these crooks.

Read what I wrote to the DNC today:

Where are the prominent Democrats speaking out against the torture at Guantanamo? Amnesty International has called for investigations and impeachment for possible war crimes. So far, I've heard Cheney and Bush give their two cents, but nobody to back up AI's claims. Where's Dean? Where's Kerry?

Don't be afraid of being called anti-american by the right wing nuts. Tie this story into Deep Throat. Tie it into Tom Delay and the Downing st. memo. It's another example of the corruption that has overcome the GOP controlled government. It's time for truth and reconciliation. It's time for airing out all this dirty laundry. Tell the people that only the guilty have something to hide. And yet, this is the most secretive White House in Modern history.

So should we be pushing this, or should we focus on the other issues at hand?

5. What is so hard about getting someone in the Dem party
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 05:35 PM by OhioBlues
to say BULLSHIT Cheney you a**wipe. Something simple maybe not quite like this would do nicely. Since Cheney is a lying liar he'd lie and say he's not an a**wipe. Still someone needs to answer these lies.:sarcasm:

6. Contact the DNC here
http://www.democrats.org/contact/

If you have someone cool representing you, contact them too. This may be a good way to tie everything together into a coherent message. "Corruption runs amok in the Bush Junta, we're here to clean house." Let's keep our democratic rep's honest, and we'll be sure to win!

7. One thing, over and over, one thing
Ask yourself, first, what is the objective?

Then ask yourself, second, what message will best achieve this objective?

Take that message and run with it. Hammer it over and over. Be relentless and stick to it.

The people are confused. The truth is constantly bent. The people need something they can focus on. That is the message to promote.

9. Welcome to DU SlipperySlope!
:hi:

You're right. The message should be "they're corrupt and out of control. We're here to clean house!"

10. I agree, but WE need a KEY issue.
as the original post said we have a "lot of balls in the air." If we don't get organized and focus on one maybe 2 issues. Otherwise we'll all possibly be fighting a lot of losing skirmishes. It's time we get united and fight a massive front with a massive amount of people.

It's time the dems grew a spine. Only we can make them it seems

It's time for another MLK for the masses.

8. Yes, we should tell the Dems to stand with AI
I for one am sick to death of people not being held accountable.

We want accountability! We want it now! We aren't going to rest until we get it!

Accountability now, dammit!

12. No matter how
much we hate this administration to show solidarity with a group who compares the treatment of detainees in Cuba to the 20 million slaughtered in Russia would be unwise.

the rhetoric is very sharp, kinda like comparing Hitler to * throws some people off. But if they used more milktoast language, it wouldn't have gotten a response from the Admin. in the first place. It's a catch-22.

I think democrats should speak up against abuses though. Abuses of power, of human beings, and of the American people's trust; that's what they're guilty of.
