Words cannot express our deep thanks for your letters to my dad "Bill"
This is overwelming, you are making me cry! Dad was able to read 50 letters last night before going home. I will be compiling all the letters and presenting them to him on Fathers Day! Dad looked down at my keyboard last night and said "where can I get one of those" I think that says it all, how much he appreciated the letters from all of you! Unfortunately, dad was recently diagnosed with early dimentia and is having memory problems. To those who expressed wanting to hear of his experiences, I will try to post some of his story. Thank you again sooooooo much, you will never know how much it meant to dad and our family. Bless you all.

2. aw, laugle
You're making me cry now...A short note to a true American hero is so little in comparison to what your dad's done.

I lost my dad 6 and a half years ago and I still miss him dearly. Take good care of that "old man" and give him a hug for me.

4. Bless your Father!!!
My dad has struggled with Alzheimer's for a couple years now. It's very tough on the family. I called home to wish everyone a Happy weekend and when he got on the phone he though I was his brother Bill. My Uncle Bill died at 48, my age now. My dad's friends say I look and sound just like my uncle...

But, once I told Dad who I was, he seems to recall more. Asked my how my car was running (he was there when I bought it about 6 months ago), and he still helps my mom around the yard.

All good karma to you, your dad and ALL your family!!!

6. You're welcome.
How about getting him something like the older Webtv's? We got one for my grandfather a few years back. It was easy for him to use and, since it plugs into the tv, he had a 32 inch screen that was easier for him to read from. I believe that the subscription to the service was under $15 a month also. It limits you compared to a real computer but he would be able to go to message boards, read articles and get email. And they are pretty inexpensive.
Just a thought.

9. We don't need the thanks.
It's the least we could do...making a veteran feel good on Memorial Day is what we're supposed to do. :)

I'm glad to hear it helped.

11. This kind of thing is why I keep coming back
Enjoy your last times with your dad. I went through the same thing not long ago, and my dad is gone now, not forgotten.

12. A pleasure! Thanks for sharing him with us. It helped perk up an
otherwise glum Memorial Day - where the bad guys prevailed AGAIN. Well, then there came this story about a veteran from Bataan and the Pacific theater of the war (where my late father-in-law served as an Army doctor). It reminded us that not everyone involved in war has lost his/her nobility. We need that now. Especially in THIS time when war has such incredibly sordid and horrendous aftertaste.

EVERY war is horrible and very much dreaded and unwanted. But at least the war our fathers fought had a purpose, and it wasn't steeped in lies. And those who sacrificed (including their loved ones) can hold their heads high about that sacrifice. That privilege has been denied those who have the misfortune to get caught up in this one now.

Thank you for sharing your dad's experiences, laugle. We deeply appreciate you - AND him. Thank him again for us.

13. It was a pleasure to revisit
the reasons why I love and admire our veterans.

And likewise to revisit an era when Americans were loved and respected throughout the world.

what different times we live in.
