The best of the best: 10 people we need to back and support
There are currently ten Congresspeople with perfect voting records this year. We need to support these when they run for higher office (such as Senator or President) and we need to go out of our way to contribute to them. If these guys suddenly get donations significantly higher than their folding counterparts, then it will send a message to other Democrats that there is a benefit to doing the right thing. If we fail to back these people, it sends a message to all other members of Congress that it doesn't pay to back us - as opposed to Bush.

The members of Congress with perfect voting records are:
Grijalva, Kucinich, Lee, Lewis (GA), McKinney, Owens, Payne, Schakowsky, Waters, Woolsey

2. Many Dems won't be reelected if they vote 100% Dem.
That's just the way the political pie crumbles. It is nice, however, that the ones you list above have constituencies that support their voting records. And supporting them with letters, articles and donations is a good idea, but it won't change the way say...John Salazar from Colorado votes. He is something of a conservative democratic populist. That is why he was elected. And giving Dennis Kucinich lots of positive reinforcement is unlikely to change Salazar's views. The key is finding legislation they, and we, can all support. And we should not do what the Republicans did and coerce and strong arm support. It's not ethical. But you knew that. :-)

3. We wouldn't want them representing their constituents would we
like the ones in conservative areas. Nah.

5. Some areas are a real mix. Many respond more to Dem fiscal policy
than Democratic social policy. And many of them are not conservative ideologues, but they are culturally conservative, they might say traditional. One thing to do is to link economic prosperity with more liberal social policies. It's not hard. A healthy, educated, and prosperous society is a plus for everyone. All this depending on one's bootstraps is just...stupid. But folks accept it because it sounds good, they don't look around to see some people don't have any boots and have no way to obtain them. And they really don't understand that the Constitution protects individuals, whoever or whatever they are, and if one group's rights are eroded or denied on the basis of who they are, then the rights of any group can be denied, as well.

And not everything conservative is automatically bad, just as with everything liberal. And, if anyone believes that George W. Bush and his cohorts are conservative...well, that just boggles the imagination. :-)

4. That's what Bush is telling them. Let's give them a reason to keep backing
us. Let's kick out the Dems with the low voting scores and contribute extensively to those with the high scores.

6. Of those you plan to "kick out"
Do you have a plan to get a Democratic butt back into that seat?

7. If you "kick them out", someone more conservative could be elected.
These folks are elected because they can get the votes from the people in their communities. To elect someone more "liberal" in these conservative, highly mixed or moderate areas would be an interesting feat. It would be similar to Pat Buchanan being elected by little old Jewish ladies.

Unless people understand, clearly, what they are voting for, you can't transform many of the centrist or moderate voters to suddenly voting "liberal". It has to mean something to them, something cogent, something personal. And ethically, it should be done in an honest manner. The process defines the product, not the ends justify the means.

9. So, are you going to use you magic wand or adjust the voting machines?
If the Dems backing Bush have reasons they can show their constituents why they need to not support George, they will be elected, or reelected. If the voters like what George is doing they will elect candidates that support him. That's the deal.

13. Let's finance real Democrats, like the ones above.
Let's let the Republicans finance the Republicrats, who defame our party by voting for the enemies of democracy.

11. All Democrats need to support these heroes.
These individuals have listened to us and have done everything we've asked them to do. It's time they were rewarded for their good work. Everyone, please, grab a checkbook and contribute to each of the persons listed in the topic posting.
