after the series of corporate implosions -there was huge criticism of then SEC chair Pitt - he had long ties, as a corp lawyer to many corps now coming under scruting. Leading up to the midterm elections... bush : stand by my man,,,, doing a great job.... we need corp responsibility (just get off kennyboy's back, media). Then the friday late afternoon (too late for the news) after the elections... Pitt resigns. Very little coverage, and very little negative press (per how bad Pitt had been.)
