How the Compromise Could Spell a Win
This morning I did not feel that the compromise was a victory for the Democrats. I still contend that it is not a victory at this time. It could turn into a victory in that since Frist could not conrol the moderates he may not get the nomination. In addition, this might have helped the House turn on Bush in regard to stem cell research.

3. Temporary Victory
Edited on Tue May-24-05 06:55 PM by danalytical
The republicans would have steam rolled right over us and got all 7 judges and the upcoming supreme court nominee approved. Now, we forced two judges off the list, and retain the right to fillibuster an ultra conservative Supreme court nominee. Thats a temporary stay, but its good enough for now, and the best we could do with 41 seats.

4. we gave in too easily, I don't buy the spin...
a move for the nuclear option would have separated the moderates from the radicals on their side.

instead, we gave the shirt off our back and are feeling thrilled we didn't also loose our pants.
