A vote for gwb is like a vote for Nader..is this what some repubs thought?
Several of my repub co-workers and family members were adamant that they were going to vote for gwb and many heated arguments ensued.

Post election, I was dreading being subjected to their victorious gloating. Yet, oddly, no one did. In fact, their response was so subdued I wondered if they were the same people I had energetically debated a few weeks before.

Now, I'm wondering...were they pulling the "Nader" thing? All indications pointed to a Kerry win. Did they just decide that it was OK to vote for gwb since he was going to lose anyway, and then they could claim righteous indignation for the next four yesrs?

Or are they just idiots?

1. They're just idiots
Most of the Bush supporters I have met will only challenge you when they have a clear advantage, or they can't escape (like around an election perhaps). Once it's over, they go on with their lives, apathetic towards politics save what they hear on Rush Limbaugh and see on Fox news. They have no political savvy, nor have they formed their own opinions or educated themselves about the issues. Bush voters are the dumbest people in this country, and thankfully their ignorance has not become bliss, as they're getting downright pissed off at the direction this country is headed.

2. I've thought the same
one deep, deep fundie commented with a sigh "Kerry gave a great concession speech; he'll be president next time around"

4. They thought they had the luxury of voting for someone who wouldn't win
the "voting your conscious" description that Nader voters are often (perhaps unfairly) characterized as.

sorry about the dangling participle. MK
