Frist may have lost this battle but in the meanwhile he earned a lot of brownie points from the right wingers who control the Republican party and who turn out and vote in the primaries. McCain may very well run, and if he does we should hope he isn't the nominee--even though McCain's voting record is solidly conservative he has bucked Bush and the Right Wing on enough issues to be considered "untrustworthy" by many conservatives. The conservatives delivered the '00 nomination to Bush against John McCain and they very well may do the same for Frist in '08.

Frist would be a much easier target for Democrats to defeat in '08.

1. Best thing that could happen for us
unless DeLay could somehow get the nomination.

3. Gingrich would be better. Or Brownback. Or Santorum
But yeah, I think Frist could be a good target.

Personally, I see perhaps the greatest potential for a solid Democratic win with Giuliani v. Edwards. THAT would alter the electoral map.

McCain is the strongest candidate in the general imho but I don't think he can win the nomination.

6. And...
And I hope he stabs McCain in the back at least once during the primaries. Maybe McCain will learn that if he lies down with dogs...

7. How about if both Frist and McCain run?
Frist as the nominee of the Talibaptists and McCain as an independent splits the Pubes down the middle. Makes it easy for our guy or gal to win.

(I thought McCain positioned himself perfectly in the filibuster fight for a 2008 run within or without the GOP.)

8. Hey, if we don't tear voting machines, the US radio and TV airwaves,
and the print media out of the direct clutches of the RNC it will not matter WHO is on the Republican ticket--they will win.
