Uh-oh! Now when the Pugs use the nuclear option, they can say "we tried..
to work with the Democrats" -- we gave them their chance.
And if the Dems then shut down the senate, we will really
look bad. Could this be just another evil tactic by Rove?

1. I don't think so...
I'm probably being overly optimistic here, but if you ask me I think the nuclear option is dead. There's too much attention being paid to it now...more and more moderates/independants who wouldn't support such a measure are now aware of the whole issue, moderate Repugs are feeling more alienated and the corporatists will do anything to avert a Senate shutdown.

Bushco is applying the pressure, but their poll numbers are beginning to make some Rethugs in the Senate question just why they are supporting a president who is swiftly becoming an unpopular lame duck.

The cat-killer missed his chance.

5. He's not getting all of them and the fundies aren't happy...
and the corporatists are who pushed the comprimise through in the first place. What we are witnessing here is a big battle between two very powerful arms of the Repug party and it's quickly splintering their unity.

Frist is the catalyst (pardon the pun)...he's effectively pushing the Repugs unity to the cliffs edge.

3. I wish I shared your optimism
I think it's wounded in its present form, but with careful nurturing by the MSM and right wing talk, it could come back, cleverly disguised as "an end to all this partisan bickering" or some horseshit like that.

We've got a war with (pick one) Iran, Syria, North Korea, Massachusetts coming up soon, and despite what is happening in Iraq there is a damn good chance CuckooBananas will "convince" a majority of Conress that terra must be attacked wherever we find it.

If he can do that, the nuclear option should be a piece of cake.

Man, do I hope I'm wrong.

4. I sure hope you're right. I still have a bad feeling about this.
