Repeal the veto? Bush says he will veto stem cell research bill
if it gets to his desk. This would be after an up-or-down vote in Congress. Maybe, the repukes would like to repeal the veto.

2. Can't be done.
It would take a Constitutional amendment, not like the filibuster. Why is it we Dems always want to change the rules when something doesn't go our way? But more importantly, why do we always think it will be so easy when we don't have any power to do it? Is God going to come down from on high and make the situation right, or something?

5. Reagan is ridiculed these days for refusing to address the --
-- AIDS crisis that arose during his term. He's cast as a prude, a pussy, and a totally disconnected and therefore unkind public servant on various AIDS-related issues.

Bush's far-right bootlicking is going to put him in the same category, at least in terms of government's relationship to science.

I imagine that many other nations would be happy to corner the market early on stem cell research.

6. Actually, I had heard that there will be enough support to override
his veto-----jesus how I would love to see this arrogant ass be told for once to "shit down, shut the fuck up, you're a lame duck now and you're not going to get your way all the time anymore". Keep your fingers crossed. (Also I'll bet there are corporations who are drooling over the money to be made in this area as other nations are starting to outstrip us as we march back to the middle ages---not good for business, you know.).
