Do the Republicans EVER Compromise?
I am not being flip. I live as a Maine Democrat and no matter what form letter I get from my "moderate" senators they always vote with their party for the final vote. When ever I hear the words compromise or bi-partisan it seems to be either our Democrats voting the other side, or the Republicans accusing the Democrats of not being willing to compromise, or playing "partisan politics". Again I am really asking someone more knowledgable... Do they EVER vote against their party on the big final votes? Does anyone really think a "moderate" Republican will vote no on these judges? Did ANY vote no on Gonzales or Rice? When Bolton finally comes to vote will any Republican REALLY vote him down? Give me some past vote to hang my hope for "bi-partisan compromise" on. I hope I get flamed with many instances of Republicans voting with the Democrats that has happened since Bush has occupied the White House. I really can't recall... Not in committee but the final vote.

2. Republicans are like Terminators.
They don't stop, ever.

They KEEP coming and coming.

They NEVER have enough, NEVER.

They will LIE and BREAK Promises to get what they want.

A compromise where they give up NOTHING is just ONE MORE step toward GETTING it ALL.

Does ANYONE really believe that the Repuiblicans GAVE UP ANYTHING?

4. Well obviously
Either they are in denial, in shock or drank the koolaid. But, I have to ask, because I have been watching the performances on the Senate floor for the past week--was it all for nothing?

3. I pretty much agree with you. When they say compromise,
it usually means Lieberman is voting Republican . . . again.

6. This is kulturkampf for them...
To the religious right, this is their big hurrah, their last chance to turn America around from its slide into secularism. Because of that, they are unified, committed, and uncompromising.

9. We are perpetual victims!
They are blackmailing us with the idea that they may "change the rules in order to win"—Gee I feel better that we "compromised" and they won't do that again... Are we nuts? We should be calling their bluff every time. It is the only way to keep a blackmailer down.
