Moderate Republicans HIJACK the FRISTIANS
Despite what many people first thought, that the Dems caved, this is NOT the case! 14 People essentially HIGHJACKED the neoCON agenda. Don't you think these same republicans who are "moderates" would turn down these inappropriate judicial nominees.

This is NOT a win for Frist. It's an embarrassment. And with our continued hard work, WE CAN HELP THE MODERATE REPUBLICANS GET A SPINE TOO.

Send calcium!

5. Owens isn't confirmed YET..
We'll see just how loyal to bush these moderats really are when the final Senate vote is cast.

Is this a 50/50 chance?

8. Exactly :-) The comprimise only agreed to an up or down vote. It did not
say that all of the people in the comprimise would necessarily vote for that nominee.

7. It ain't a win, but it ain't a loss for him either
They are gonna let his three worst nutcase nominees go through for a vote, and who knows, they could revisit the whole "stop the filibuster" issue later...

I am hoping that we aren't whining later about how they PROMISED and then broke the promise. It is a faith-based agreement, with each side having faith that the other will be true to their word. How ironically appropriate.

Of course, it would be great if the three nutjobs were voted down, but that is probably unlikely.

9. LOL would it just Kick Ass if they were voted down!!!
Imagine that. I guess it could actually happen, 50/50 chance..Dems have rarely had even that much to go on with bush's neos in place.
We've held onto hope with less chance than that.

FristFries..haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

There's a new moderating force within the Senate and that's VERY good news for us!

12. it's like an armed truce
Don't get me wrong, we'll still have to make sure our voices are heard. BUT the MODERATE republicans just told Bush and Frist to F.O. and LEAVE our senate alone!

14. All of the new GOP senators just do not get the HISTORY
...and those who don't know their history are condemned to repeat it. I'm glad those old lions piped up.

15. Hi welcome.
I remember the warm d.u. welcome I got, so I'll extend it to you. To answer your question there are a lot of things we need to do when we call the moderate repubicans.

We remind them of WHO they represent. Each time I call, I tell them, "I was once a Republican but I have switched parties because of the extreme neoCON agenda. I am deeply concerned that the moderate republicans no longer represent my view; therefore, I've and to switch parties."

(I also kick them in the butt about FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, SMALL GOVERNMENT, STAYING OUT OF THE BEDROOM, and CORRUPTION AND LIES LEADING TO WAR) I really LAY it all on them.

Then I tell them, I am calling to ask for their help with the vote on __________ and I mention I will be telling my peers what they said.

So each time we call them, we remind them that they work for US not BUsh.

try the democracy cell project to get even better ideas.

http://www.democracycellproject.net best time to talk to a live person is about 9pm est time (and sometimes longer for the west coasters)

16. Well, I think we're both right:
what you suggest is the ray of light (cool name, btw) I see in this mess, but I do NOT believe "we" won. In fact, I'm sure we didn't.

And think about it: those who did this deal aren't on our side. They're Republicans and a few Dem senators who are so (cough) "moderate" they'd look better as old-style Republicans.

17. It's like I said in a different thread.
For the republican's it's a "phyrric victory" because those in the red states will get these awful appeals court judges (hense the idea that they lost more than they won) but so I suppose some might say justice is served!

And the dems will retain the right to filibuster supremes.

And you know as I said in another thread, the republicans and media would have demonized us had we had to shut the place down. So I think we did have a better win even if it wasn't the gold medal it was something!
