Jerry Springer on the Radio...
Its not my taste. I like Majority Report, Mike Malloy etc. But unlike other liberal talk shows like Lynn Samuels or Ed Schultz Jerry never pissed me off the wrong way. He's got a correct view and well reseached stuff. He's kindof dorky in an endearing way.

He's great though. I wish him well. His time of show is perfect for stay at home women. Also non-college educated people. Poor people. Christians and especially older people. He talks really slowly and talks from the heart. People will recognise that. Especially his daytime fans who love him and trust him. I mean, its a audience we really really need. His is like our Paul Harvey.

He always explains stuff in easy terms and is constantly qualifying what he says. He's getting out critical information in a sweet easy to take way. Those people just wont listen to Mike, Randi or MR. Its a really good move on Air America. You know Ed Schultz? Ok his listeners wives would like Jerry Springer Radio show.

1. Changing my mind
At first was totally against Springer, but he is making sense. The more I listen to him the more I enjoy listening to him. His voice is calm, he makes sense and acts normal. By normal I mean he does not go off into tirades like Malloy (who I dearly love) and Randi. He is very comfortable and confident. I'm beginning to think Springer on the radio is a good thing.

Springer is refreshing!

2. I really enjoy Springer.....
I find him up to date on current issues with a flair for looking deeper into the content of the topic....He evokes one to think and feel.

3. I listened today to Springer, and told son, he's the man to
get the moderates to listen, wean them from the loud harange of the RW Bomblasts, like Rush. His points were right on. He was soft and melodious. He complimented, then offered another, more reasonable view.

Randi, Mike and the MR preach to the choir, so to speak. Don't get me wrong. They are spot on, well-researched.

But Jerry Springer is the bridge for the confused, or mis-informed that can still reason.

8. Is he on during the day? I have not heard him. This was the
first time that I heard JS, Best of. I usually get home in time to listen to an hour of Randi, and then some of the Majority Report before I fall asleep.

I was just really impressed with Springer's demeanor, soft and persuasive.

4. I always liked Jerry, not his show...
The calm and even way he works on his subject has always been his persona, if you get him away from the geeks on TV. He is perfect for AAR, but the one knock I do have......too many commercials; but AAR has to work, has to get stronger and take more market share, so I am being especially patient. I have a technique where I can turn down the sound for 5 to 6 minutes and come back right with him. I am from OHIO and consider him one of our great native sons, even if he was born in England!!

5. Although insulted by your comment, I do like him
As a working woman with a graduate degree, who is middle-classed, atheist, and in my 30s, your description of who would like his program is overwhelmingly sexist and condescending. I like Ed Schultz too-- does that make me a man, or suddenly smarter?

I'm also an Ohioan, and have met Jerry Springer several times. He a is soft-spoken gentleman who has given a tremendous amount of time and money to the Party. I don't think it should be a surprise to anyone who knows anything about the man what his demeanor is like.

12. I agree his show is good
I disagree that it is only for those who aren't well informed about politics.

I don't care for it when someone frames their opinions by saying that it's a good show for the uneducated and later for wives. To me, it sounds like the original poster was saying Jerry Springer is a good show for the little ladies who can't understand the finer nuances of politics.

14. I didn't say it was "only for those who aren't well informed" or women wer
Or that Women or Old Ladies "can't" do anything!

Let's take it apart shall we? My exact words and meaning, my sensative dear fellow liberal sister.

"His time of show is perfect for stay at home women." Notice TIME of show is the subject and "stay at home women" the object, fact is mid morning is a great time to reach that demo.

"Also non-college educated people. Poor people." A seperate group... I mention mainly because of the TV show... The TV's shows fan base is those people. Has nothing to do with women.

"Christians and especially older people. He talks really slowly and talks from the heart. People will recognise that. Especially his daytime fans who love him and trust him. I mean, its a audience we really really need. His is like our Paul Harvey." I heard him talk today convincingly about Christianity and his voice is so gentle and he is so obviously a loving person. I know my mom would like him. So anyway that's what I meant. Hard not to offend in these times.

9. Well, it's a start - I listen to JS on the internet connection at work
because they can actually tell when a person is listening in, unlike the battery-operated mini radio I have next to me (connection stays on better, too, even though I'm in downtown Cleveland - unlike a bunch of Clear Channel "Cleveland" radio stations - in Independence).

Gotta figure - Clear Channel finds that the internet traffic kicks in and stays on between 9:10am & 11:30am (on WTAM in Cleveland - they don't do the last half hour, and they have breaks on the 10s). if the traffic drops off after JS leaves, then they know it's drawing traffic.

I would think that the tracking software also understands that there are the Beckheads - tuning in for a minute and realizing that they haven't been paying attention to the fact that their guy ain't there - and then tuning out.

10. I'm a stay at home woman,
and I prefer Randi - lots more in-depth information and I learn more from her. Jerry doesn't have a lot of new info for me. I suppose he's good for people who like his TV show. At least it gets them listening to a progressive point of view.

15. Randi is fantastic much more my style.
She has a few problems for me, no big woop. The Patti Smith interview was a low. She isn't the best interviewer. Super duper Capitol Hills skills. So right on on issues. Love her most all the time. Like Franken is a nicer guy his guest are much better, but Randi is more correct to my politics.

11. Very impressed with Springer
I finally had the opportunity to listen to him 3 times on the way to work during the past week. He's extremely knowledgeable and treats his callers with respect (one caller with too much respect but that's being picky). I'm trying to disassociate the Jerry Springer on AAR with the train-wreck of a TV show he allows to air under his name every day. That would be my first question to him-which is the real Jerry?

13. Just wish he'd get a cohost

someone to lighten the gravitas a bit. And that he'd become more cognizant of the dire need for election reform.

Never thought I would pay an incling of attention to Jerry Springer as I only knew vaguely of his stupid TV show,

Then I heard Ira Glass's report on his real backround. It sounded like a totally tragic modern day Shakespearean tragedy.

He was an up and coming star in the Dem party, mayor of a big city at a unbelievably young age.

Then was idiotic enough to write a check to a prostitute. Then he descended into the underworld of stupid TV and made a fortune.

i think his show is okay but could use some comic relief from all the droning. The only funny part about it is the faux comercials.

Just hope he lightens it up a bit.
