2. 'The white liberal differs from the white conservative only in one way:

the liberal is more deceitful than the conservative. The liberal is more hypocritical than the conservative.'

That's the most provocative Malcolm X quote I can think of for a DU audience, and a very timely one.

On the rare occasions when there are DU threads devoted to issues such as affirmative action, Al Sharpton's race for President, the eight-to-one racial disparity in incarceration in the US, Tasering of a minority child by the police, or even Halle Berry's first Leading Role Academy Award for an African-American woman, much of the contents tend to differ little from what you'd expect to see on Free Republic. Malcolm X's birthday is a reminder of how far even DU has to go on the issue of race in America.

3. Yeah but Malcome X didn't know about moles and trolls.
And that's what we have on this board.

4. I think you replied to the wrong post.
Moles and trolls are easy to ignore, but the sincere posts of DUers who haven't informed themselves about the issues I mentioned are too plentiful to deny.

5. Whenever I think of Malcolm X - I see how every decade he grew
& changed. I keep thinking he would have dropped Islam (as he was beginning to be frustrated by it) and turned into a true political leader.

Such loss in the 1960s.
