Dean and wife try to soften his image after primal scream
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/story/0,13918,1130314,00.html

Howard Dean brought his reclusive wife, Judy, in front of the television cameras yesterday for an intimate interview in a desperate effort to stop a haemorrhaging of his support in the Democratic primaries.

The interview, on the ABC network, was designed to soften the former Vermont governor's image as a prickly and unpredictable candidate. This image was reinforced by a raucous outburst - including a full-throated, primal yell - after finishing a poor third in the Iowa caucuses on Monday night, the first contest of the primary season.

The incident raised questions over whether the fiercely anti-war candidate was US presidential material. It contributed to a significant drop in Mr Dean's support in New Hampshire, the scene on Tuesday of the next showdown in the contest for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"I was having a great time - look at me," he said, with his arm around his wife. "I am not a perfect person, believe me. I have all kinds of warts. I wear cheap suits sometimes. I say things that I probably ought not to say. But I lead with my heart, and that's what I was doing right there - leading with my heart."

1. They Both Seem Like Lovely People
She would make a GREAT First Lady! Smart, genuine and not a bit phony.

Dean is great but...not for President, not right now anyhow. We all have warts but he's certainly put his on parade! I just don't think he can win. But he's done a lot of good just being in the race.

2. the whores are pulling the strings on Dean, same as they did with Gore
and Dean isn't handling it near as well as Gore, who did not handle it well.

3. I disagree with the "primal scream" thing
What I saw when I saw his speech, was not unusual from what an "on fire" pentecostal preacher typically does during a sermon. With all due respect, you're letting the media tell you how and what to think.

4. I do not have an opinion on "the scream" actually
As I have not seen the speech, much as it has caused a heck of a lot of commotion in the media and on DU.

What worries me is that I was in my local pub last night and a couple of people were saying that they didn't like the look of Kerry. Kerry is not the worst candidate in the race by some stretch but it is still worrying to hear people over here being apprehensive about the guy, even if that is based on superficial things such as his looks.
