Downing Street Memo on Blitzer

White House Press Secretary Scott McClennan was finally asked about the Downing Street Memo, and his response was that he hadn't seen it - but it's still "flat out wrong", he said.

Not a particularly surprising response - but it has prompted a bit of reaction by the Mainstream Media. CNN's Wolf Blizter did a report where he talked to Rep. John Conyers about the memo "I don't think we can laugh at the London Times and British Intelligence - we need to know", as well as Sen John McCain who staunchly supports the President stating "I do not believe that the Bush Administration decided to set up a scenario that gave us the rationale for going into Iraq".

Blitzer's report further states that McCain was part of a bipartisan investigation of the intelligence that found the U.S. WMD information was wrong, but not "doctored".

The problem with this claim is that the report they are most likely referring too, assuming it is the same "Presidential Commission" that McCain was involved in, did not even address that issue. In CNN's own original report on the findings of the WMD panel it is stated that: analyst were "too wedded" to assumptions about Saddam Hussein's intentions, but the question of whether analysts were pressured by the administration to lean forward with negative assumptions about Hussein were not part of the scope of the panel, and were originally scheduled to be addressed in a future panel - which as yet, has not occurred and has not been scheduled to occur.

The CNN original report continued:

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid faulted the report for failing to address (italics mine) "our national security policy-making process."

I believe it is essential that we hold both the intelligence agencies and senior policy-makers accountable," the Nevada Democrat said.

Reid called on the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, "to investigate whether Bush administration officials misused intelligence."

However, even in the original report, CNN didn't include the following from Senator Reid's Press Release on the subject:

Last year, the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee committed to investigate whether Bush Administration officials misused intelligence. The failure of the report issued today to examine this important issue only serves to increase the need for the chairman to keep that commitment.”

I have already referred this discrepancy to Media Matters.org, but at least CNN isn't referring to the London Times as a "Tabloid" this time.

1. Apparently...
this is all rendered moot by the revelation that "our national security policy-making process" is to be blamed on Newsweek Magazine.

3. SCORE!
IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME! If the Dems spin this right, it will be our :nuke: option. They drop the nominees and we won't file Articles of Impeachment. Sounds like a good compromise.

4. Minister of Propaganda McClennan's response is a perfect example ....
.... of the neoconification of what was formerly known as 'America.'

"... he hadn't seen it - but it's still "flat out wrong", ..."

Peace.

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - Be it MNA Day 3 or 8 or 15 or .... the day will come when 10s of millions of Americans and others stop their typical activities for 24 hours and urge 10 times that many to join should another MNA Day be required. On that glorious day what we once called "America" will emerge.

7. Next question to Scotty: "When will you be reading the memo?"
This "I haven't read it" crap is just too convenient to let lie - he's gotta be pushed to admit reading it and then the fun begins. His feigning ignorance can't be allowed to stand.

8. Does anyone really believe that little scottie....
...hasn't read the memo?
I don't. Bald face lie.
The White House propaganda team is burning the midnight oil studying this MEMO and writing up the talking points to be passed out to the CorpoMedia and Republican Party operatives.

The MEMO ALREADY survived the first round of republican talking points.
"That's OLD news. The voters voted on it in 2004."
and that the MEMO "was just someone's opinion"...which was just PURE BS. The MEMO survived these attacks and is STILL ALIVE and DEMANDING attention.

The MEMO PROVES that bush* KNOWINGLY LIED not just once, but HUNDREDS of times.

Someone with access to file footage needs to make a collage of times when bush* faced the WORLD and KNOWINGLY LIED to pursue selfish goals.

The tape would include times when bush* stated that he "hadn't made up his mind",
that "he didn't want to go to War",
that "Saddam was a threat",
that "He was given bad intelligence",
not to mention those times that he insisted Saddam had WMD.

EVERY SINGLE TIME he appeared before the World and made those statements, bush* was KNOWINGLY and WILLFULLY LYING, and the MEMO proves it.

to see bits of truth.. perhaps we will see more, because I can tell you if they dont, they will lose more and more viewers! Check the numbers.. ALL TV news watching is down.. meanwhile many independent and alterantive media outlets are growing! .... new voices are speaking up, like Bill Moyers... I was at the Media Reform conference, and I can tell you we will hear from him!

So stay on it.. spread the word.. BE the MEDIA!
