Should Democrats parrot Specter's request ?
To appeal to the Republican leadership to turn their members loose and let them vote their conscience? At the same time, let it be known that our Party is always free to vote its conscience. Between now and Friday, they should repeat this like a mantra - turn your members loose and let them vote their conscience. Stop your threats against them. Stop the intimidation. Put them on the defensive.

2. He could be offering the Democrats an ace in the hole...
in my opinion. If they play their cards right. The Repubs will react very defensively if they are accused of keeping their members from voting their consciences, because they know it is true. A little division in their ranks may not be a bad thing. :)
