Will any Democrats defect on the filibuster vote?
Found these two paragraphs in a Knight Ridder News Service story:

Three Republicans are ready to vote against the “nuclear option:” Sens. John McCain of Arizona, Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and Olympia Snowe of Maine. Likewise, three Democrats appear committed to negotiating a deal: Sens. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut.

Among other Republicans thought to be most open to a deal are Susan Collins of Maine, Mike DeWine of Ohio, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and John Warner of Virginia. Warner hosted a closed-door meeting in his Senate office Wednesday. Among Democrats there were Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Ken Salazar of Colorado.

5. I don't think that's politically wise for Lieberman
Connecticut is a socially liberal blue state. Lieberman can suck up to all of the corporations he wants and hide it. If he sides with the GOP a highly visible social issue like this one, he WILL face a serious re-election challenge, whether it be from the primary, or from angry dems who will stay home or vote third party.

He does not have good political sense remember joe-mentum? And earlier this year when he was sniffing around the White House trying to get a cabinet post? Was that smart? No.

2. Nelson maybe
I advocate supporting almost all Democrats but if I lived in Nebraska I don't think that I could vote for Nelson if he votes yes on the nuclear option.

3. I doubt it
The GOP can afford a few defections, the Dems cannot and I assume there would be punishment for such a defection.

4. Found this from the Associated Press on Salazar
With a decision on whether to allow filibusters looming early next, centrist lawmakers met in various offices around the Capitol complex — in Sen. John Warner’s office at one point, Republican Mike DeWine’s office at another — seeking a compromise that would avert a politically explosive confrontation.

Democratic Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado had attended at least 13 private meetings over the previous 24 hours with senators trying to reach a deal, a spokesman said.
