I know that should be a contradiction in terms, pagans being one of the many groups of pariah for the right wingers, but whatever, she is.
She wrote in her public journal:
stupid news media
So, Newsweek has issued an apology to readers this week, acknowledging errors in a story alleging US interrogators at Guantanamo Bay desecrated the Koran.
Note to Newsweek: Do you really think this is going to make everything go away, morons? Did you even think to double-check this sort of extremely volatile information before sending it out to the world? Have you even yet figured out that the U.S. doesn't have the same standing in the global community that it did in years past, and everyone's not going to back off like they might have before?
Sept 11, 2005 is the 4th anniversary. The first WTC attempt was 8 years previous. I see your short attention spans have blocked this out entirely. Be assured that the Islamic extremists that you just pissed off have a really LONG attention span, and patience.
I wrote back (I suppose you could say I'm not shy about pointing out her BS):
You do a great job putting out the right wing talking points. You've been watching Faux "News" again, I would guess. Anyway, you have been lied to, again. Here's the corrected info with article citations. Newsweek was set up by this administration, a la, Dan Rather. It's a magical shell game that they never tire of. I hope that the masses do soon. Please notice that they aren't denying that the desecrations happened any more than they are denying the torture that is ongoing, they are focusing on an unconfirmed source and forcing Newsweek to recant on that basis.
General Myers states that the riots in Afghanistan didn't have to do with the Newsweek story:
http://usinfo.state.gov/is/Archive/2005/May/13-299433.htmlAnd here's another part of the story you missed. Newsweek wasn't the first to spill the beans about the desecration of Korans.

Since, you made this error, I'm sure others have fallen for the shell game. I'm going to take this info over to my LJ as well. I didn't bother to write on this one because I thought the shell game was all too evident. I guess I was wrong. I'm guessing you believe Dan Rather wasn't set up as well?
