Congress approves Boxer's $60 million provision for roadside bomb jammers
There is NO link...this is the text of an e-mail sent by Senator Boxer.

Dear Friend:

Congress recently passed emergency supplemental legislation to support American troops. I am pleased that the spending package includes my provision for $60 million item to pay for Army roadside bomb jammers to be used in Iraq.

U.S. military personnel were sent into Iraq without adequate equipment to deal with the threat from roadside bombs, and we have been playing catch-up ever since. Our soldiers have only a fraction of the jammers they should have had. My provision will help to pay for the devices they need.

Jammers help neutralize the threat of roadside bombs by interfering with the signal transmitted to the improvised explosive device’s fuse. So far, roadside bombs have accounted for the deaths of 351 U.S. soldiers in Iraq and have been the leading cause of deaths there for the last three months.

We must to give our service men and women the protection they want and need. I am pleased that Congress included my provision to help protect our troops and Iraqi civilians from these deadly roadside bombs.

If you have any questions about this or any other federal matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

1. That was part of the Iraq supplemental that included also RealID
So, while I am happy something has been done, I am less than happy than the Democrats did not stand to their principles when it comes to civil rights.
