Conyers to guest on CNN Wolf Blitzer Reports today
Just reported on John Conyers blog:
http://www.conyersblog.us/

"White House Press Briefing and CNN
Dowining Street Memo Gaining Traction
Also: Newsweek Koran Story

I am advised that White House spokesman Scott McClellan was asked about the Downing Street memo today. His response was "the decisionmaking process was publicly documented." I am not really sure what that means.

His non-answer answer seems to have done a favor for us though, as I have been receieving more press inquiries about this matter. I was just interviewed by CNN for the 5pm edition of Wolf Blitzer Reports. From my conversation with the reporter and my staff's conversation with the producer, it seems that they are pretty well versed about this matter. My web volunteers will try to post video of this interview later tonight."

Last part of his blog pertains to Newsweek article

Ain't much in the way of publicly available documents from the most secretive administration in history.

Can't wait to see Wolfie get his panties in a wad.

3. Maybe, just maybe
Our letters to CNN and Wolfe did some good. I always feel like a fool when I think that myself and others who write the media makes a difference. How do you buck the Corps.? I truly don't think you can but I am so excited about this interview. But, I always prepare myself for the bs that will be covered or the questions asked and whether the person being interviewed will get to make their point. Conyers is a bit slow talking and gawd knows that will be strikes against him, no matter that what he says is straight on. I did write Wolfe concerning the UK Memo along with many of you thanks to, don't know who on here gave us the address, but that is what is so great about this site. So many of you give us places to check out info.

4. I have to believe we're making a difference.
When we wrote MSNBC about their poor coverage of the missing weapons they did a follow up story that was closer to the truth. They even posted my letter with a link leading to their follow up story. They may have framed it as "many people were confused", but it did prompt them to give it more web/air time and from a more factual angle. In the end that's all that matters.

What a complete joke this MCM is.. (S no longer exists to me, C=Corporate)

It's the first time I watched Wolfie, since 2/3 am on election night. I didn't forget why. I was just hoping Conyers would get more time to speak. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Edit to add: I showed my thanks and support to Rep. Conyers on his blog..... here's an easy link:

15. Well, SH*T
That wasn't worth waking up from a nap to watch!!

Talk about one-sided. McCain, McClennan & a British "source" on one side, and 3 sentences from Conyers on the other.

So, all CNN did was a CYA story. Big freakin' deal.

21. I keep at it with important things. I think we have to help. Editors
need ammunition. If pressed, they can point to our emails that "The public already knows. We're getting 200 posts/hour, so, what can I do?"

I keep doing it. If nothing else, it makes me feel better to do something.

Scotty McLiar tells a real whopper in this video by insisting that the Bush administration pursued a genuine diplomatic resolution to the situation in Iraq. They did no such thing, and here is the proof:

September 17, 2002

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- In a letter handed over to the United Nations on Monday, Iraq said it would allow the return of U.N. weapons inspectors "without conditions" to "remove any doubts Iraq still possesses weapons of mass destruction."

The White House was dismissive of Iraq's pledge: "We do not take what Saddam says at face value," said a Bush administration official, referring to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

In the letter, Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri wrote: "The Government of the Republic of Iraq is ready to discuss the practical arrangements necessary for the immediate resumption of inspections."

Sabri hand-delivered the letter in a meeting Monday evening with U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Amr Moussa, the secretary-general of the Arab League.

BUSH LOOKS OUR NATION RIGHT SMACK IN OUR COLLECTIVE EYES AS HE DELIBERATELY AND PREMEDITATEDLY LIES TO US ABOUT WMD IN IRAQ.

Monday, March 17, 2003

(CNN) -- Here is a transcript of President George W. Bush's Monday night televised address to the nation:
snip----
Our good faith has not been returned. The Iraqi regime has used diplomacy as a ploy to gain time and advantage. It has uniformly defied Security Council resolutions demanding full disarmament.
snip----
Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised. This regime has already used weapons of mass destruction against Iraq's neighbors and against Iraq's people.
snip----
Today, no nation can possibly claim that Iraq has disarmed. And it will not disarm so long as Saddam Hussein holds power.

March 22, 2004

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United Nations' top two weapons experts said Sunday that the invasion of Iraq a year ago was not justified by the evidence in hand at the time.

"I think it's clear that in March, when the invasion took place, the evidence that had been brought forward was rapidly falling apart," Hans Blix, who oversaw the agency's investigation into whether Iraq had chemical and biological weapons, said on CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer."

Blix described the evidence Secretary of State Colin Powell presented to the U.N. Security Council in February 2003 as "shaky," and said he related his opinion to U.S. officials, including national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.

"I think they chose to ignore us," Blix said.

The whole Bush administration and the republican party in general are a bunch of corrupt, lying traitors.

23. Look...
Let's straighten this "lying" business out - when a Democratic president lies, it's wrong, disgusting, illegal, and impeachable. When a Republican president lies it only serves the greater good.

Ask anybody with moral authority - Dobson, Falwell, Robertson, Ratzinger ...

24. Memo "flat out wrong"
Yeah, right. This would require that both Blair and Chief of MI6 Dearlove were lying about -- or "misunderstood" -- what was said to them in separate meetings with different people in Washington earlier that year.

Try not to notice that the Brits have seen plenty of documents prior to these July '02 minutes, so they already knew that Blair had lied. To them the facts revealed by these minutes were nothing new, just FURTHER proof of his deceipt. (And they responded by unseating 100 or so Labour MPs in the May 5 election.)

Try not to notice that Blair could have defended himself against these leaked minutes by accusing someone within the UK government of forging them. He didn't. He acknowledged them.

Fact: Chief of MI6 Dearlove warned the July '02 meeting that what he got from his recent visit with CIA Director George Tenet was that "Military action was now seen as inevitable," and, "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy". Misunderstanding? Yet somehow he understood enough to state correctly that the US had no patience for working on another UN Resolution.

Fact: During the same meeting, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw cautioned that the case for military action "thin", and said "Saddam was not threatening his neighbours, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran."

Try not to notice that even though the minutes are "flat out wrong", somehow the US and UK wound up together in Iraq under conditions that in no way vary from what the minutes state...right down to "There was little discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military action."

Try not to notice that every one of the assertions made in the July '02 British memo is supported by heaps of FACT. The only thing BushCo has to support its assertion that the minutes are "wrong" is its (heh heh) word.
