"Without media reform, the GOP will stay in power."
Edited on Mon May-16-05 05:06 PM by Cyrano
That's what the lead headline on BUZZFLASH currently reads.

Go back to Stalin's dictum: "It's not who casts the votes that matters. It's who counts the votes."

The media is only part of the problem. They can print that every one on Mars has cast a vote for Bush, and as long as the count comes out that way, who's going to dispute it?

I've lost track of the postings I've done on stolen elections. The media, although a problem, is not the major one. Diebold and ES&S own and program the voting machines in many states. These are companies owned and controlled by Republicans. This is the number one problem that needs to be fought.

I don't know what words to use to make this any plainer. Unless and until we return to paper ballots in this country, (that can be counted in spite of Tom DeLay's storm troopers trying to stop a recount, as happened in FL in 2000), we are going to remain under the control of the far right fringe of the Republican Party. (Until they decide on a "final solution" for us.)

"If tomorrow the Times ran an article on its front page headlined "Bush is Second Coming of Christ," conservative activists would charge that it proved the paper's liberal bias because it didn't compliment the color of the president's tie. While we do not doubt that many conservatives genuinely believe that the Times, and the press in general, is biased against them, the "liberal bias" charge is above all a political tool they use to obtain coverage more favorable to their goals."

Media Matters press release.

2. I always link the two issues. The reason we can't get election reform is
BECAUSE the media refuses to cover the very real fraud problems with the GOP controlling 80% of the machines.

Most people are completely unaware of the BBV issue. You will never GET election reform till the broadcast media TELLS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
