Why can't a senator vote nay for war appropriations
Edited on Sun May-15-05 04:06 PM by sakabatou
One can be for the troops, but not give money for the war. I'm really concerned that there hasn't been any dissent in the senate for the appropriation bills.

This topic was put up by a discussion in my US history class.

1. Remember the last "election"?
The vote, even if honestly explained, gets spun as "Senator so and so voted AGAINST funding our troops!"

2. try being the senator of a state that has kids over there that need suppli
supplies, and voting no -- and explaining that one to the moms and dads. Wherever the money is going -- that needs to be addressed. But, though many Dems spit fire over the fact that the RealID bill was latched on to this -- not one of them voted against the $$ for the troops...

3. Haven't you heard? It's anti-American against the troops.

4. because those are our children in harm's way and we owe ...
them whatever we can do for them. I recognize that pulling them out would be by far the best route but no, it would be not only electoral folly to vote against providing them with what they need, in my view, it could well be immoral as well, regardless of what you might think of their CIC or the policies that put them there.
