New polls show Dean with slight lead in New Hampshire
Washington-AP -- Several new tracking polls show Howard Dean entering the final week before New Hampshire's primary with a slim lead over his rivals.

An American Research Group poll puts the former Vermont governor first with 28 percent support. It's showing 20 percent for John Kerry and 19 percent for Wesley Clark.

In a C-N-N/U-S-A Today/Gallup poll, 32 percent of those surveyed favor Dean, 25 percent favor Kerry and 21 percent favor Clark.

The University of New Hampshire Survey Center has Dean at 33 percent, Kerry at 24 percent and Clark at 18 percent.

A Suffolk University of Boston poll shows a closer race, with Dean at 23 percent, Kerry at 20 percent, and Clark at 15 percent.

These seem a little high to be post-Iowa. But it will not suprise me if his numbers do go back up as he has been ON HIS GAME lately. (and others have not to say the least)

10. was gonna say the same
Kerry said so himself he is the underdog going in there, and yes despite those recent poll leads I think he, Clark, and Edwards are, after all Dean once held a commending lead there, like was up by 30 points.

7. Much as I hate to admit it, I think this is an older article...
"Entering the final week before New Hampshire..."

We're what, four days from New Hampshire?

13. yea
I do think Dean will redeem himself, may even win it, but I dont know, it could be any of these three I think, Kerry, Dean or Clark, or maybe Edwards. Just saying. I think theres a good chance Kerry could hang on to his lead there, I think Dean will for sure rebound but its anyones as far as I am concerned.

18. Yeah, actually, it probably is...but Dean's going to be taking the lead
again before Tuesday. I've lived right over the river from NH for over a decade now, and you can always tell when the tide is turning in NH politics. It's turning in Dean's favor, and fast.

He turned from 18 points to 15 points in one day in ARG's tracking polls.

It seems that Dean now has a good deal less than half the number of polled votes as the lead candidate.

The old ARG result was the giveaway.

Here's a link which dates an identical AP article to Wednesday morning:

I'm still not giving up on Dean. He packed the house tonight at his town meeting and raised over 900K this week. Hopefully the tide is turning. These polls are making me .

19. unfortunately
I think those are old polls--why they still have them up with todays date is baffling. But if there is a turnaround for Dean based on his tv exposure yesterday and people giving him a second look the tracking polls starting this weekend should begin to detect it. Tomorrows tracking polls should be 1/3 of the results for today.

20. I hope this is for real!
I am listening to idiots on Nightline right now talk about how serious the scream was. what a joke!!!! It was a freakin' pep rally for his supporters!! It's not like he was screaming AT someone! I have seen so many non-Dean supporters here talk about what a non-issue it is... I wish someone would inform the networks of that.

Anyway, I hope those polls show a real trend! All we need to shut this stoopid storyline down is a good showing.

Clark 20%
Dean 18%

Lieberman 7%
Kucinich 1%
Sharpton 0%
others 0%
undecided 12%

ARG's tracking poll from today show Dean dropped another three points to 15 percent today:

3-Day Results Jan 16-18 Jan 17-19 Jan 18-20 Jan 19-21 Jan 20-22
Jan 21-23

Clark 20% 19% 18% 19% 20% 19%
Dean 28% 28% 26% 22% 18% 15%
Edwards 8% 8% 9% 9% 11% 13%
Kerry 19% 20% 24% 27% 31% 34%
Kucinich 1% 2% 1% 1% 1% 1%
Lieberman 6% 7% 7% 7% 7% 6%
Sharpton 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0%
Other 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0%
Undecided 15% 13% 13% 14% 12% 12

If Dean took all of the undecided votes, he would still be behind Kerry in excess of the MoE of the poll.

This puts Edwards in statistical dead heat with Dean for third place in New Hampshire

36. Every poll I see has different numbers, even in the same day.
For example, all the TV stations in Boston are doing their own polls, daily, in NH; I caught pieces of the evening news on 2 different stations, and the polls had big differences. I can't remember the exact numbers, but they both had Kerry leading, with one giving him around 20 percent and the other around 30 percent. That's a pretty big difference. And I think they had about 1/4 of the people still undecided. I'm trying hard to pay no attention to the polls, but it's pretty hard when the media has them in my face every second.
