Republican leaders in Washington are absolutely out of control. Instead of governing and doing the people's business, George Bush, Bill Frist and Tom Delay are on a quest for absolute power. Drunk with power, rewriting the rules is what the Republican Party has done best in recent years.
Tom Delay has done it in the House by changing ethics rules, and now Republicans are trying to do it in the Senate by dismantling vital checks against abuse of power. That's not how America works. In our democracy, no single person and no single political party may impose extreme views on the nation.

It starts with fighting George Bush and Bill Frist's partisan power grab to destroy the last check and balance in Washington against a total abuse of power. They are breaking 217 years of Senate rules in order to pack the courts with radical judges, and pave the way for another Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court.
Senate Republicans could force a vote on the so-called "nuclear option" as soon as next week, but we're not going to wait that long. I have asked the DSCC to immediately release this brand new ad - "Out of Control" - to put America on notice that Bill Frist and Tom DeLay are abusing their power. When they don't like the rules, they change them or, in this case, break them.

This ad directly confronts Bill Frist and Tom DeLay about their blatant abuse of power to change long standing rules that govern the way we do business in Washington. I am furious over their partisan power grab and have asked the DSCC to start a new Media Response Project. This ad is just the first step in a long-term plan to hit them hard every time the Senate Republicans abuse their power to satisfy their radical right wing base and ignore the real needs of all Americans.
