1. You mean that the committee refused to make a recommendation
....all of the repubs voted for his appointment and all the dems against?

10. I'm not sure how usual it is
But it is not good for Bolton- a very weak endorsement by the committee going into the full Senate.

At least 3 of the Repbs have big concerns about Bolton being the UN ambassador but they weren't willling to take all the responsibility for ending it in the committee. All the repubs voted to allow the full senate to make the decision.

So the good news is that there's still an opportunity to apply pressure to Voinovich, Hagel & Chaffe, and others, to vote no when the full senate vote comes.

Barbara Boxer said "you want a fight on the senate floor, we'll give you a fight on the floor"!!!

9. It will take place on the senate floor so c-span2 will cover it
I don't know when, Frist will have to schedule a time for it. I imagine someone will be saying later today when that vote might be scheduled.

4. Does that mean Voinovich (sp?) voted Republican?
The UK news said he had said Bolton was unsuitable - I think the quote was "he'd have been sacked if he was in a major corporation".

7. He did say that
He said that he wasn't willing to impose his views onto the whole senate (in other words, he wasn't willing to take the responsibility for bringing the nominee down all by himself), so he voted send the nomination to the full senate. I believe he will vote no at that time.

15. If the Larry Flynt story is picked up by the media....?
It would make it very difficult for many of them to vote for him. However, thus far, it is mostly ignored. Ignore it and it will go away and they all get a free vote...?
