Unlikely alliance as HIllary shoots for the White House
May 12, 2005

From Tim Reid in Washington

IN A move once unthinkable, Hillary Clinton stood side by side yesterday with Newt Gingrich, a sworn enemy during her husband’s presidency and one of the former First Lady’s most vociferous critics.

In the latest sign that Senator Clinton is preparing the ground for her own presidential run by seeking an image as a bipartisan centrist, she teamed up for the day with Mr Gingrich, the former Republican House Speaker who, at the height of his power in the mid-1990s, was obsessed with driving her husband from the White House.

Although the photo oppor- tunity was ostensibly to promote “health information technology”, appearing with her husband’s one-time nemesis could only help Mrs Clinton in her desire to shed a reputation as a polarising liberal.

She has yet to divulge her presidential plans, but if she does make a run for the White House in 2008, two early obstacles must be overcome. First, Senator Clinton must win re-election in New York next year. But she now has a potentially strong opponent. Edward Cox, the late President Nixon’s son-in-law, is to challenge her, according to friends of the Republican.

6. the times = murdoch = all the lies that are fit to print
'Tim Reid in Washington' must be just the usual murdoch whore, talking rubbish about rubbish. Some people in the UK STILL treat it as a paper of record. Weird.

2. Politics has more in common with prostitution than it does principles
This is a good example of it.

3. well, she's my senator, and before I vote to re-elect her . . .
I'm gonna want a firm commitment that she intends to serve her entire six-year term . . . lacking that, I'm voting third party . . .

5. Anything she does can be interpreted as a sign
she's running for President, if that's what you want to see.

7. Why is this a sign that HRC wants to run and not a sign that Newt wants to
