GOP senators caving on Bolton
I guess the White House pressure was too much for them. Does anyone still consider Chafee a moderate?

Bolton's Chances for Confirmation Improve
Senate Panel Plans to Vote Today After Lengthy Debate

By BARRY SCHWEID, AP

WASHINGTON (May 12) - Undersecretary of State John R. Bolton's chances of winning Senate approval to be U.N. ambassador appeared to brighten as Republican fence-sitters drifted in his direction.

< snip >

The Democrats' chances rested on converting Republicans, who hold a 10-8 edge in the committee and a 55-45 majority in the Senate itself.

One of their targets, however, Sen. Lincoln Chafee, R-R.I., told The Associated Press on Tuesday he reluctantly would vote for Bolton. Two other Republican fence-sitters, Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, said they too were inclined to vote for him.

A fourth Republican, George Voinovich of Ohio, playing it close to the vest, declined to tip his vote in advance.

1. THIS KIND OF CONTROL OVER PEOPLE IS NOT PRESSURE
IT IS BLACKMAIL!!!. Rove has access to everything, remember that. He is using blackmail to control people and the Dems are walking right into this. All of Rove's robots will perform as expected.

2. tarnished
So sad.

There are really no untarnished Reeptiles... or Dems for that matter .. in the Senate (after voting unanimously for throwing good money after bad in Iraq.)

3. NEVER assume that a Republican will do the right thing.
Honor and integrity have no place in the Republican party.

4. I wonder what Plato would say about this Republican hypocricy
Guess somebody will have to check it out at Bolton's sex club, plato's Retreat.

Also have to wonder what the Republican "http://hotmilitarystuds4you" gay male White House prostitute would have to say?

9. C-Span3?
I don't get C-Span3. But how could it be on C-Span3?

Last time Bolton was on C-Span, but the committee approving him is a senate committee.

I always thought C-Span is the house of representatives, C-Span2 is the United States senate, and C-Span3 is the US supreme court. But I could be wrong.

7. Of course, the Repugs will march in lockstep like zombies
Think of the cool country club parties they wouldn't get invited to if they dared speak their minds...

Being closed off from the BBV machine control might make their race in 2006 all the more difficult too.
