When we win back our government, can we abolish the GOP?

I mean, seriously. That party and everything for which it now stands needs to be sent packing like the American Whigs of old. They are totally out of touch and out of control with the spirit and intent of the founding fathers. And as it should now be painfully obvious everyone here, they won't leave office without some serious, concentrated pressure applied by the still sane citizenry of this nation.

When that day comes, and you better believe that it WILL come, I am not favoring one party "payback" rule by the Dems as an alternative, however. In fact, I think the One-Party rule being foisted upon this country now by the Rethuglicans is Exibit A in the case for a Multi-Party government. Just like in capitalism, Monopoly = Bad; Diverse & Competitive Market = Better Choices that serve the consumer. Same with legitimate, viable choices in voting. Our electoral system is in dire need of an overhaul that will prevent this kind of single-party dominance and abuse from ever happening again.

1. No. The GOP has been hijacked by neocons.

I would not be in favor of abolishing the entire party. I think focusing on the GOP is a distraction since neocons can join in any party and attempt another takeover.

Just oust the neocons and keep them from returning to power.

They could have a voice in a Multi-Party system. Albeit a small one on the Far Right -- With other kooks like the Klan, Skinheads and Neo-Nazis.

I've frickin' HAD IT with the GOP. There has NEVER been a more destructive force in this country's entire history. They've out-Joe McCarthy'd Joe McCarthy. They've out-Nixon'd Nixon. They've done so much damage and promoted so much evil and wreckage and greed and selfishness and shortsightedness that they should be punished with complete obsolescence.

I know we're supposed to be tolerant and inclusive and that the Democratic Party is the REAL Big Tent in politics. WE are the honest-to-God "All Things Considered" party. We welcome and tolerate and allow room for all points of view.

But these people have just exhausted all my patience, understanding, and tolerance. Every time I think they've done their worst, here they come again with more evil. They're like the teenager who was never taught to share, or to show courtesy and manners, or follow the Golden Rule. They start out wiping their noses on other people's shirts, and coughing into the open without covering their mouths or snatch somebody's crayon. Later on, they're cutting somebody off on the freeway or parking in a handicapped spot when they aren't entitled to, even while they see somebody driving up with a handicapped sticker - because "they'll just be two seconds" or they "just have one quick question" (those "quick questions" are NEVER quick) or they were here first.

republi-CONS bring out the worst in people. Including me. I would be quite content never to see any of them blighting our governmental landscape EVER AGAIN. It would be nice to see THEM relegated to permanent minority status - before they can rise again and fuck us all over one more time.

I feel like the ruthless pirate industrialist powermonger and Reagan "kitchen cabinet" member Justin Dart felt about protecting the wilderness: cut down as many trees as you feel like, only - save about 100 acres "for the kids." I feel the same way about republi-CONS. Keep a few of 'em around as examples of how NOT to be, and how NOT to treat people, and how NOT to "govern" or handle power.

Not very tolerant of me. Yes, we should turn the other cheek. Yes we should take the high road. Yes we should live and breathe and set an example of the Better Way and not stoop to their depths and dream of getting even. Well, SORRY. These people are lower than low. That's the only language they understand. That's the only way they'll get the message, is by being recipients of the same outrages and hose jobs they're inflicting on everyone else, now that they have the chance to rape and pillage, unrestrained. And everything they institute to further their own power-grab, I hope and pray, will be turned around AGAINST them, to screw them royally, when OUR people finally return to power.

5. How do you abolish "one party rule"

as you put it, when it is the people who chose that one party to rule?

We need to win the war ideas, not seek retribution by "banning" political parties.

That is one of the most anti-American ideas I have heard in awhile.
