Proposed new meme: "The RRR" for "The Rabid Religious Reich"
It is very simple yet laden with multiple layers of powerful imagery:

- the tie in to the hatred and intolerance of the KKK;

- the tie in to the inherent fascism and it's attempt to impose itself on others;

- the tie in to the foaming at the mouth, insane anger and craziness of this very dangerous movement (the Religious Right).

Let's launch this meme into popular usage and popular discourse.

4. Well, I've been calling them the "Religious Reich" for quite a while,
and I've also referred to them as "rabid", but it never came to me before that the acronym "RRR" pulled together so much powerful imagery that really exposes this movement for what it is.

And I prefer "Reich" because it contains two important images that apply to this group: the obvious fascism imagery, but more importantly, the image that they are AN ARMY, an organized, quasi-military organization.

Even the Radical Clerics of the RRR use the expression "ARMY", as in "we are training an army of ideologically Christian Rightest lawyers who will be appointed to judgeships and help us take control of the Judiciary." That is an openly stated agenda of Robertson and Falwell. Falwell established a law school branch of his indoctrination center (Liberty Baptist University).

They are out to SEIZE control of the US Government. They have an army of electoral shock troops. Consider that the electoral shock troops of the RRR overwhelmed the largest, best funded, most inclusive, most organized, most determined progressive coalition in US history and re(?)elected Bush. That sobering thought should quiet anyone who doubts that the RRR has a massive military machine and is massing troops for the 2006 elections.

2. I still use their original name, only I correct the spelling:
i.e. the Konservative Kristian Koalition.

5. and their leaders are "Radical Clerics"...
Edited on Wed May-11-05 04:43 PM by NAO
religious fundamentalist extremists who wish to impose their theocratic ideology on our government, suppress the rights of women, and dictate the educational agenda. (In their defense, they don't wear those towely things on their heads, so they are not EXACTLY like the Taliban).

(paraphrased from the "Justice Sunday/Fristianity" Episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart")

6. The Radical Clerics of the RRR issue FATWAS
as in "Radical Cleric James Dobson issues fatwa on Sponge Bob"

or "Radical Cleric Pat Robertson issues fatwa on Judges"

or "Local Radical Cleric excommunicates members who voted for Kerry"
