Poll question: What do you automatically think when "important" news happens?
So far, just about every breaking story and news event dealing with our government, National Security, War on Terror, War in Iraq is later found to be a lie, an exaggeration, a PR Ploy, etc., etc., etc.

These stories are supposed to generate a particular line of thinking....but in the end, there is always a counter one that takes hold.

Examples:
9/11 - Big hero Bush Jr. and Guiliani.....or, the jury is still out on how complicit our government was in this disaster.

WMDs in Iraq, the imminent threat- They had good evidence of that as a possibility, or Lies, deception, lies, deceptions, lies, etc....

Colin Powell's U.N. Iraq WMD Testiphony - Powell really did the job in showing the world the evidence... or Lies, lies, lies?

Catching Saddam - Good Riddance and now we are safer....or Found in a hole? Yeah...right. More like drugged and may have been captured previously weeks before by Kurd rebels or drug lords.

The Tearing down of Saddam's statue - Yeah! or PR, PR, PR, PR.

The Osama Bin Laden tapes - Osama was on Kerry's side... or, So far we don't know anything other than the fact that the tape was deliberatly released to coincide with "just the right timing" to the '04 Prez election.

The Plastic turkey visit from Bush - He's so brave and thoughtful... or, More and more PR.....ended badly for King Monkey Boy.

Values Voters - Did they really make the difference in the election? Sure, Americans are moral and gave Bush a "Mandate", or Not according to later revelations and exit polls.

Ohio election - Fixed, or No problems....nothing out of the ordinary happened.

The Chiavo case - A Moral outrage for those concerned about "life", or Can you say pure unadultered orchestrated Bullshit?

Numerous security threats and alerts - Be very, very afraid....or, Was there any ever any real threat that materialized that you can remember?

Iraq is bringing Democracy to the Middle East - Bush's legacy will reflect his intent to spread freedom...or, Yeah....right, and I'm monkey's uncle crowing about the sunrise!

The Plane, The Plane!!! - Under Bush, our national Security defenses are working like Clockwork and has vastly improved...or, another bullshit story to keep us afraid and afraid-er....but it won't be confirmed until next week.

What conclusion do y'all automatically come to when you hear one of these types of stories hits the airwaves?

1. That they have no idea what is going on for at least 24 hours
That what I'm seeing/hearing is total bullshit.
That they're racing each other to get on the air with absolutely ANYTHING.
That we'll hear it hashed and rehashed for weeks afterward*

*Applies only to celebrity and/or sex stories.

6. I agree...and of course, one can tell by my wording of this poll.
As soon as I hear it, I know it's bullshit. That's a sad commentary.

Even the IWR push during election 2002. I knew that is was a hype to place Democrats into a box and force them to side with Bush on an issue that would give fuel to the image of our President protecting America.

7. hahahah.....That's also one of my daughters' first thought.....
Cause to her, CSI is giving her an education (she now wants to be a Crime investigator)...and anything else is just plain "disruptive".

3. It's all staged, scripted, contrived, whatever you want to call it
I remember watching the "liberation" of Baghdad. A TV camera was set up 3-5 floors above a large open space. People were trucked in and milled about, gradually as they were prompted they went into celebration mode.

It's all fake. Wag the dog.

p.s. The resulting legislation - patriot act, war $ appropriations, today's HR 1279, is, too.

4. Quick, tune in Euro TV News
They're the only ones who appear to place actual news above American Idol updates and Micheal Jackson.

5. Bush Gets Jiggy in Georgia ! LOL !
President Bush got a big thrill out of those dancing bears in Georgia. He was swept up in the moment and started dancing. The locals are claiming that he fell off the wagon. Anyway, he was video taped dancing and jigging and swinging his hips. The video tape played all night long on Georgia television.

Want to view these video tapes yourself? They are really funny.

So, why isn't this BIG NEWS in the mainstream media?

8. All early reports are fundamentally flawed and unreliable.
So I can't even tell what's BS until a few hours have passed. On that basis alone, NOT through any trust in gov't or, Universe Forfend, the blivet**, I reserve judgment until sufficient time passes. THEN I scream "BullShit!"

12. even if the corporate media accidentally tells us something real
and important, you can bet that they will spin it into a lie or into meaninglessness

far more often, they simply tell us whatever Norquist faxed them today.

14. its all bullshit....
i'm even starting to believe the tin-foilers who claim this admin perpetrated the 9-11 attacks...if the UK war memo is true, which i believe it is, then this admin is capable of anything and everything and should NOT be given any benefit of the doubt, not one fucking second longer.

15. Like I said......
It is my opinion that in reference to 9/11....the History jury is still out. Maybe in 20 years, we will uncover the truth. Hope I am still alive to hear about the truth! Until then, it's sad that we continue to "lose" because of lies, apologists, yes men, and fabricators, i.e., the corporate media.
