"Crossfire" will die June 3. Finally. Wolf Blitzer takes over the world.
Will anyone mourn? Does anyone care?

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Jon Klein is now on the record: "CNN will debut a three-hour, late-afternoon show hosted by Wolf Blitzer that will replace Crossfire and Inside Politics sometime this summer," the Hollywood Reporter's Paul Gough summarizes. The show does not yet have a name. Klein says the show will "offer a new and enticing way to look at the world for busy people."

D.C. bureau chief David Bohrman sees a dynamic three hours of news: "Breaking news really breaks out in the 3 to 6 hour. It must be two or three times every week that the programs we have now are interrupted by breaking news," he said. I'm curious what this other quote is alluding to: "It will look and feel really distinctive, unlike anything else you see on cable," Bohrman says.

The Crossfire name may not survive, but Bohrman says the hosts will: "(Paul) Begala, (James) Carville and (Bob) Novak will find a home in this program we're going to do, but I think I'd like them to stop yelling at each other." The last Crossfire will air June 3. Update: FishBowlDC is mourning the loss.

1. This makes me sad....
June 3rd is so far away. If only there was a way to speed up the process.

2. I just had a horrible thought
They no longer need ANY voices from the left, even weak one's like Begala. We are officially irrelevant.

One day Chalabi is revealed as having ties to spying for Iran, lying to officials to get us into war (as if we needed any excuse) and oh yeah being on the run from massive THIEVERY and fraud in Jordan. Whitehouse distances self.

TODAY: He's in the Iraqi government and that little fraud problem is all gone. Criminals and thieves are all we have.

Next up: Runaway mom finds dead husband with Michael Jackson.

3. I Cannot Stand To See Blitzer's Face Anymore....
Crossfire is crap...lately...especially with numb nuts like Joe what's his face, and Baywindow Buchanan but it was the only regular show with real liberals and real liberal viewpoints, Carville and Begala...In that sense it's a loss for our side...It may be more of a loss than we realize...

Blitzer makes me sick...CNN is turning to pure crap...make that pure crap on toast...

4. Begala: Joke, Novak: Criminal, Watson: WTF!???
Carville is the only worthy host. I said yesterday that the show is a total farce due to the addition of Watson (famous as the PAID reporter for Bush's No Child program). CNN is a joke!

15. That's Not Armstrong Williams
Get your paid pundits correct.

Watkins probably is on the payroll somewhere, we just haven't found out what yet. He reads the talking points just like Rove writes 'em. How those Repugnicans love blacks who play Uncle Tom.

6. God, what a payback.....
Replacing anything with Wolf Blitzer is jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

If that's their solution to a crappy program like Crossfire, it's time to have a write-in campaign against Wolf Blitzer.......since he's now the only one who we will see on CNN. I hate that shouting, "everything-is-important-cause-it-came-out-of-my-mouth" jerk!

7. Please! If you read between the lines it was great info on 'inside the
beltway' thinking. And that is where the fight is for the next 4 years. I've seen some amazing attacks done by Begala against the right.

unlike anything else you see on cable news.

10. Thank you, John Stewart!
I think I'll open a bottle that afternoon and toast the slow death and try to think up some sarcastic comment about Wolfie succeeding Judy Woof-Woof.

12. File under:careful what you wish for
I remember being excited by the prospect of Begala and Carville, and for a short while it seemed to be working.

This idea of "news for busy people" smells like a steaming pile of infotainment. Someone recently coined a new term for WPN (what passes as news), Nuzak.

I think CNN is about to perfect the art of Nuzak.

14. Wolf debuted during Gulf War I where they fished him out of the Pentagon
I've always thought he was "Cheney's Guy" and maybe some connections to the darker, seedier side of the Bushies. But, who knows. He rules CNN.

but I think Wolfie at one time worked for a Lukud newspaper. I'm not perfectly sure where I read that?

Thanks KoKo_I'd forgotten about Wolf's rise during GWI.

17. Lets the RW choke on it's own boring lame shit.
Wolf can man the shovel cause that's all he's capable of dishing. CNN's been on the slide since Turner sold it. Those offended by the lies; Kill your TVs! It's easy. Play some Midnight Oil when you do it.

19. But, but, but, without Judy
telling us what big liars the Democrats are (Al Gore especially and also John Kerry) and how much everybody likes Dimson Boosh and his zombie wife and how God-like they are, how the hell are we gonna know who to vote for in the next election?

21. Good, when's the last show for Capital Gang?
Then I won't be tempted to watch their crappy channel at all. They can replace Capital Gang with the "Bob and Kate Show."

I wish CNN all luck in the world with their new lineup, but I won't be watching.
