Appropriations bill with REAL ID Act slated for Senate vote tonight...

OK. Everyone call, fax or e-mail your senators.

More info: One of my Republican Georgia Senators has authored an ammendment to Add RealID to the Emergency Supplemental bill.
Damn him:

"The provisions of the REAL ID Act are already included in the
House version of the Emergency Supplemental bill which is
primarily intended to provide Tsunami relief and supplies for
our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. But these provisions are not
yet in the Senate bill now being debated. The Isakson amendment
would add them.

If the Isakson amendment passes without change there will be no
differences between the House and Senate versions of these
provisions, and they will almost definitely become law. If, on
the other hand, it fails to pass, or if an amended version
passes, then the differences will be resolved in the next few
weeks by the House-Senate Conference Committee likely to be
composed of members of the House and Senate Appropriations
Committees."

They really seem determined to vote it.

After Kennedy and Clinton, Byrd just said that , though he opposes RealId, he would vote the supplemental because he supports the troups.

3. Damn.
Is this the Republicans setting up the Democrats for a "I voted against the appropriations bill before I voted for it" smear campaign?

5. Unfortunately, it does not seem so
I would be happy if at least one or two Democrats vote no, but until now, all that have spoken have said they would vote for the conference report even if they oppose RealId.

6. Feingold too will vote for the bill
same thing, same reason, same reservation.

As Feingold was the only one who voted against the Patriot Act, I am afraid that the bill will pass anonymously.
