NYTs new slant on reporting - says it all

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1480321,00.html

The New York Times, America's most venerated newspaper, is responding to growing pressure by pledging to increase its coverage of religion and the rural areas in the US, while also recruiting journalists who have military experience.

2. Journalists with military experience....
no doubt those who served in "Intelligence" would be preferred.

3. The Times will also hire more reporters who were born in barns

4. PBS went down, why not the NYTimes?
No more dissenting allowed. And they wonder why people read the blogs.....it's the only way to get real news anymore.

This from the NYT today.....nothing said, but it uses the military to say nothing.

5. Why I *rarely* pay attention to the MSM...
I look at the local paper every day, but I rarely if ever watch the news on TV. I get everything from the internet, thanks to sites like DU and Buzzflash, and Air America. It's the only way to get the truth.

6. Talk about being unable to see your own flaws
It responded: "We strongly believe it is no longer sufficient to argue reflexively that our work speaks for itself. In today's media environment, such a minimal response damages our credibility."

It's not the "media environment" that makes such a response insufficient, it's the fact that the work does not actually speak for itself, other than to say that the reporting and editing at the NYT sucks.

7. Why on earth would the NY Times even think that "rural"
people have the slightest interest in reading the NY Times?
That'll never happen!

8. Minnie Pearl read the NYT, but...
I have not considered the NYT a "liberal" paper and certainly not a "standard bearer" for years.
