DU amazes me
Kos, fellow internet activist, is bad. Kerry, establishment Senator, is good. How dare Kos criticize Kerry.

Hillary is bad. Kerry is great - even though they pretty much voted the same way on most things these last years.

I don't get.

Humanity isn't rational.

1. This is a classic discussion forum misunderstanding.
You are taking the opinions of some people and comparing them to opinions of *different* people, and calling it irrational or inconsistent.

This is a big message board. There are lots of different opinions. When you put it all together, you're going to find lots of stuff that does not appear consistent. That's because you're reading the opinions of thousands of different people.

3. Agreed, but

you have to admit there is an unusual amount of rancor directed at Hillary, while Kerry seems to get a pass - and yet they both voted for the IWR, along with many other things.

I suppose it stems from Kerry being our standard bearer in '04 - he's still fresh in the mind.

4. There's an unusual amount of rancor directed at everyone.
It's a discussion forum. Rancor is what people do on discussion forums.

9. I agree that Hillary gets more guff on DU than Kerry does
:hi: Could be that he was the candidate recently, or that she's a woman and lots of people still can't handle a woman in charge. It's hard to say.

10. You should have been here In Nov, Dec, Jan
Kerry was taking more heat than a firefight on the Mekong.

12. Kerry absolutely gets more trash heaped on him. Hillary gets trashed
Edited on Tue May-10-05 10:15 AM by blm
on occasion. Kucinich gets attacked or ignored. Edwards and Clark get hit about every other day. Where's Dean?

We see it all, everyday, here at DU.

The idea that Kerry doesn't get trashed enough over the IWR vote is beyond belief. It's laughable. NOONE got trashed more over IWR than Kerry and it still has not diminished.

Are you sure you read DU?

13. *sigh*
<<Kucinich gets attacked or ignored.>>

That's pretty much the story of his life :)

<<The idea that Kerry doesn't get trashed enough over the IWR vote is beyond belief>>

I believe that he is attacked less than Hillary. She is attcked without mercy in every thread in which she is mentioned.

<<Are you sure you read DU?>>

Yes.

14. No way do antiHillary posts add up to more than antiKerry posts.
Hillary has been getting hit since November 2004. Kerry has been getting trashed DAILY since Oct 2002.

pretty humurous.

6. Sometimes folks here get on a rant and start saying things
that don't make sense because the are angry and frustrated. Take it with a grain of salt. There are a lot of DUers who are always steadfast and clear headed, look for their opinions and ignore the ones who have gone off.

7. Skinner is correct, but moreover, your own statements
are untrue.

Lots of 'Kerry bashing' goes on here, so you are just making shit up.

Want me to do a little Kerry bashing to proove it?
KERRY SOLD US OUT. He FAILED to expose the PNAC, the truth of 9/11, the treasonous war, his campaign sucked, etc., etc..

There, is that enough?

15. DU is made up of individuals with individual minds
While I'm sure there are people who hold those exact opinions there are people who hold other opinions and hold their own truths that they percieve as self evident.

Making broad statements about any group made up of individuals that comment in their time and fashion, be it os John Kerry, John Edwards, Daily Kos, Hillary Clinton or even Benjamin Franklin is just that, statements of individuals.

If you want broad sweeping strokes of blind eyed decisions, well, that's your opinion, we can still claim that we think you're full of fly infested fecal matter.

17. That's because people are not machine to be analyzed by equations
or algorithms.

You can have two legislators with identical voting records, similar education background and similar constituents, yet their personalities would attract some and distract others.

This is why Clinton won twice and would a third time if he could. This is why a frat boy with a limited knowledge of world events, of history, of current events, not to mention of the language of his country won twice. The voters are attracted to "personable" candidates, while are puzzled or cannot "warm up" to highly intelligent knowledgeable candidates who talk in multi syllables but who appear to be cold because they are cerebrals.

This is why Oprah and Tom Hank are considered to be sure winners - if they will ever decide to run.

We all know of people in our work place that grate us, or others for no reason, for nothing can be pinpointed. They just grate on some people.

It is called human nature and, thankfully, cannot be broken down and analyzed by any equations - even though too many engineers who happened to supervise regular folks try to.
